Well, week 4 is wrapped up and as usual there are a couple of surprises... who knew that Denver would be undefeated at this point in the season? Nolan has done wonders to that defense. Despite this, Baltimore and New England are the top teams in the AFC...one of the two will likely play Minnesota in the SB, I just don't see any other NFC beating them right now...

But man, as a die-hard Browns fan, I can't help but feel crushed...not that I should have any exceptions what-so-ever by now, but getting whooped on 3 weeks in a row was just embarrassing...

Baltimore is looking good in the AFC but I think it's a little early to put New England up there. I think the Jets and the Steelers deserve as much consideration as the Pats. The Colts are still in the AFC, right?

Minnesota has played the worst team in the league (Browns), the third worst team in the league (Detroit), an NFC surprise team (San Francisco), and a middle of the pack NFC team (Green Bay). Yes, a good team beats the teams it is supposed to beat but beating two of the worst teams in the league (and the 3rd and 4th teams in their own division) is anything but impressive. The win over the 49ers was impressive but the game could have just as easily been lost. All this said I think they are one of the best teams in the NFC but would put money on teams like the Giants and the Saints first. If Favre is doing this stuff in late November I may be convinced. I'd also like to see the Vikings play the Eagles at some point to see how they match up.

Looking at their schedule they won't be tested until weeks 6, 7, and 8. Following their bye this week they get the 2nd worst team in the league, St. Louis, before the aforementioned tests against Baltimore, Pittsburgh, and Green Bay (this time at Lambeau).

Until they play someone worth a damn they should be labeled unproven like Denver prior to them beating the Cowboys last week. Speaking of which, Kyle Orton will never be mistaken for a HOF QB but the dude is a winner. He won in Chicago and will win in Denver. It won't be pretty and it won't be fantasy-worthy, but wins are wins.

I did forget about the Colts, whenever you have a Manning under center these days you have a shot but I wouldn't put Pittsburgh in the category of top teams. Yeah, they're the champs but their O-line looks worse than last year, Mendenhall had 1 good game and the rest of the RB's look hella slow...it'll be on Big Ben to carry the team to the playoffs, and of course that vaulted defense. The Jets, gotta love their swagger.

As per the Saints, I don't think they have enough pieces on defense like Philly or Minnesota does. Certainly those 3 teams are the top teams in the conference along with New York.

The Jets make the list due to their defense and the better-than-expected play by the rookie Sanchez. For that same reason, you have to keep Pittsburgh in mind until they lose a few more they shouldn't have. Like the Jets, they have a good defense and Big Ben is better than Sanchez right now. The Steelers couldn't run last year either...that wasn't your Dad's Steelers that won it all. Mendenhall doesn't add or detract from that running game for the very reason you listed - the O-Line.

I think vaulting the Steelers defense (either by sealing them in a physical structure or by jumping over them) is the key to overcoming such a [ib191aac]vaunted[/ib191aac] group. ;)

My primary thought about this NFL season has to do with Aaron Rodgers' health. As in, he's not going to have any of it by Halloween.

20 sacks in 4 games boggles the mind.

The fact he is not on IR right now boggles the mind.

He still has to put in one more full season before he officially shakes the injury worry watch and your point about the tattered o-line is the major obstacle in that happening.

Speaking of not being sold: I'm still not convinced that Minnesota is as good as they get credit for being...overcoming the short week and the potential for a let down game following the Green Bay game isn't enough for me - it was the St. Louis Freaking Rams for crying out loud. Their first REAL test may not be until their first playoff game. Chicago, Baltimore, and Pittsburgh are better competition but not necessarily playoff calibre competition.

kansas city chief's games are now on a list of things you are prohibited by the geneva convention to show prisoners.

sending tampa bay to play in london to get increased interest in the nfl can only hurt the chance to add european fans.

Haha, I was at the Browns game yesterday...the things being said by Browns fan about Mangina would make a sailor blush.
