The Browns lost their Franchise in '95 and have sucked balls since coming back, yet remain passionate and loyal..Cleveland ranks in the top 3 for sure.

Haha I bet they would. They are very loyal I will admit. Who actually is the most loyal, I think we cheeseheads take the top spot, followed by Steeler nation. Cleveland is pretty loyal too.

I think most teams would take exception to that claim. I believe the original NFL franchises get dibs on that claim however. I think the Steelers belong in the same category as the Patriots, Cowboys, and Packers when it comes to a noteworthy percentage of bandwagon jumpers and fairweather fans among their fan base.

As much as I hate to say it, the Raiders fans have to be up near the top as far as loyalty goes. For a franchise to suck as much ass as they have for such a long time and still travel well to other stadiums, in full garb, that's either extreme loyalty or clinical psychosis. It's one of the two.

Haha as much as I love to say that, we can't complain. We still should have won that game. Rodgers is the leader of the team. And I don't see how you think McCarthy is a bad coach. Explain please.[/quotef38e5c4]

Hmmm...I wasn't intending to imply McCarthy was a bad coach in my post. If I gave that impression with my "flag-free" comment I should clarify - I was meaning that the refs just plain whiffed on two fairly obvious penalties (helmet-to-helmet hit on Rodgers on 2nd-to-last play, facemask on Rodgers on the fumble play).

I actually think McCarthy is fine overall, but if there are two things I'd like to see him do it would be to reign in their penalties and get something resembling professional-level special teams units on the field.

Well, a third thing I'd ask him to do is to stop gaining weight. The guy's gravity well will soon be sufficient to attract enough gases to develop his own atmosphere if he doesn't lay off the Oreos.

Patriot Fans are about the worst. Most of them, anyway. I actually feel bad for the players. Belichick (who I like) deserves what he gets since either has no concept of PR and image maintenance or just doesn't give a shit (and if that's the case, I'd probably like him even more). The Browns, Packers, and Steelers are lucky to have such a dedicated group. The Bills, too.

90% of Patriot fans are bandwagoneers who couldn't tell you who Steve Grogan is, let alone Gino Capalletti, John Hannah or even Sam "the Bam" Cunningham (my all-time favorite). In Fenway Park, they call those kinds of Red Sox fans "Pink Hats", so I'll call them "Pink Helmets" (no disrespect to the Rounders).

They have no idea what long-term Patriot fans have had to deal with and they've been trashing the team all season. Also, New England is not a football-friendly region - we have exactly one Division I college. Boston's two biggest schools, my alma mater BU, and Northeastern have even DROPPED football. That should tell you something about what kind of market this is for football. You can count the number of NFL players who grew up in New England with one hand - and three of them (DeOssie, Tatupu, and Hasselbeck) had dads that played in the NFL - for the Patriots! There might be three or four others, probably less. That tells you what kind of football environment we have here. So those spoiled fans call in to WEEI or babble on the internet and they know jackshit about football.

Richard Seymour once mentioned that he thought the Foxboro crowds were the quietest and he caught holy-hell for it. But he was right. And the Boston press is probably worse. Their football columns are written by guys who have been brushed off by Belichick and they resent him - or they're just desperately keeping time until Spring Training when they can write about something they actually KNOW about. They practically chased Cory Dillon out of town after he played most of 2005 with a high ankle sprain that would have sidelined most players. Their treatment of Dillon (who the Pats would only have two rings without) was unconscionable and clueless. They wanted to dump him for Maroney, now they want to dump Maroney for who? Sammy Morris? They trash Maroney daily, but seem to forget that he absolutely shredded the "more physical" Jaguars and Chargers in 2007 after everyone else had figured out Brady-to-Moss. [ia116876](We don't get to 18-0 without Maroney, and we got to 18-1 because Josh McBrady panicked and abandoned Maroney and the running game and kept Brady slinging it against that Giant front-four buzz saw. McBrady showed the Giants exactly the SAME SHIT THEY SAW IN WEEK 17. That was a knock against McDaniels and Brady and not the fans, but most fans couldn't even tell you that...)[/ia116876]

Anyway.... I'm a die-hard Pats fan, and since we're talking about solid fanbases, most Patriots fans don't deserve what they have and they'll drop like a stone once this streak ends - and it's not about to, though they're all predicting it like Chicken Littles.

I remember when there were more Bills and Jets fans in Foxboro than Pats fans.

dola to get back on topic, sorta...

Normally, I'd be rooting for the Colts as a best of two evils simply because most real Patriot fans HATE the Jets more than any other team, but after Bill Polian's ridiculous comment about 16-0 not being "a historic achievement" and how they sneakily decided to let our most hated rival into the playoffs - in front of their own deserving fans instead of resting a week earlier on the road to capture a few more 'reachable' one-ups on the Patriots. Polian's obsessive hatred and jealousy of the Krafts and Belichick was more important than allowing his team to reach for the gold standard. And now I hope they realize what we've known all season... the Jets are a fucking bitch of a team to play.

I hate the Jets, but they're probably the best defense I've seen since the 2000 Ravens. They're that good. So, the Colts sneak in their chosen #6 seed - good for them. Even if they do win, the Jets are going to beat the crap out of them with that beast of a front line and running game, and an absolute frenzy on defense backed by one of the best secondaries I've seen in ages. They may just wear out the Colts so much so that they might not be ready to face either the Saints or Vikings.

Then I can say, "Where's your historic achievement now, Mr. Polian?"

Sorry, H. If you guys didn't already have a ring, I'd be rooting for Manning, who I really like, but...

Besides, Drew Brees deserves a ring more than any of the four quarterbacks in this dance. BY FAR. He's one of the guys in the NFL that really deserves to be respected, not just for what he does on the field, but off, too. I dig Drew Brees. I would even if he played for Indiana instead of Purdue. (Sorry H, had to get that in...)

So to get back to the topic... Go Drew (and Reggie, and Devery and Marcus and Jeremy and Vilma and Sharper and one-fucking-hell-of-a-playcaller Coach Payton), Go Saints!

Don't worry Cotton...love the Colts, but suddenly I feel the same way I did when the Pacers went into the stands at Detroit... betrayed. I haven't watched a Pacers game since that ugly incident, and probably never will again.

And now the Colts have left the same taste in my mouth...and it's ugly. I'm still watching the Colts and rooting for them, but damn...it's a blackmark on the organization and I hate Polian for the decision. It's not like Peyton was sacked a gazillion times this season, he's got the lowest number of sacks by any qb this season, so damn... where's the honor?

Minnesota learned a valuable but hard lesson yesterday:

[bed8cf75]With Brett Favre as your QB, you live by the sword, you die by the sword.[/bed8cf75]

Brett has played out of his mind all year but everyone who has followed his career knew he was more of a high-risk gunslinger than a cerebral QB. At some point, that aspect would rise to the surface again and you'd see 3 and 4 INT performances.

Brett had one of those performances on a huge stage.

His last pass in a Green Bay uniform was an INT. His last full drive in a Jet uniform ended in an INT (he had 2 meaningless throws at the end of the game).
His last pass this season was an INT.

It's who he is. If he comes back next year, it's who he will be.

Nice dude, congrats on the first Super Bowl...you Saints deserve it!

Oh, Millerman...re: Mike McCarthy, he's a very average coach (reminds me of a Crennel, and not because they're both fatties), poor halftime adjustments and very average motivator.

You put a guy like Sean Peyton in GB and Aaron Rodgers wins the leagues MVP. Rodgers and Brees, I think, are similarly talented QBs and GB has a little better talent at the receiver position than the Saints (and a better D).

You can't really give credit to McCarthy for the defenses success either, Dom Capers installed that D and is one helluva D Coor...

So if Benson takes the team to LA next time the City Council pisses him off, that leg will be a collector's item. Hang on to it.

That right there fellas is integrity.

Doug is, in fact, a man of his word.

And it turned out good too, although I'd like to see some gold in there someday. If they beat the Colts will you spend the do-re-mi to get the color added? Just curious...

I've actually had a lot of people say to fill the fleur de lis in with gold, and it might look pretty cool- but i don't know- maybe eventually.

And if the team were to move I'm still happy with it- while the fleur de lis is the saints logo, it is also a very prominent symbol in Southern Louisiana- it's everywhere, its a symbol of our French heritage, and culture. (It's actually the official symbol of Louisiana now, Governor Jindal signed a bill saying so)

And yeah it'll be a collectors item- be able to tell the grandkids I got this when the Saints made their first ever trip to the Superbowl

I'm expecting to see evidence of a new chest tattoo featuring Drew Brees in full plate mail armor, looking meaningfully into the distance with a golden arm raised to the sky. The caption will read, "Arm of Destiny +2, +4 vs. Colts."
