Ok I know we got some smart people around here...

I just got a new laptop with wireless N, and I'd like to set up my home network to work better now and upgrade to the wireless N router.

Really I don't need a true network, I just want to share the internet connection...

The modem is in the master bedroom, I have ethernet run in the attic to the other 2 bedrooms and the living room, so I need to keep the modem and router in my bedroom so my wiring works... In the living room I have quite a few devices that need a wired connections...

So what I am thinking is- I need to get a Wireless N router, and then do they sell wireless N / wired access points (is that what I need?) that I can put in the living room to hook up the other devices (Blu-ray player, Direct TV Box, X-box 360, Wii).

Also, would I need to upgrade my modem, right now it is an older linksys... any help would be greatly appreciated.

This should solve the issue of having a wired device go wireless. It's an Ethernet bridge that you can configure for these situations. Great for gaming consoles, etc. If you compare the cost of this to the cost of wiring or the hassle of wiring, it's actually not a bad deal.

As for the router, I would stick with the same manufacturer as the bridge.
