GG Oregon

Due to injuries for our top 2 QBs, we had to pick up Sikma off of the street to come start for us. We knew if we were going to win this game, it would be by running the ball and playing good defense. We were able to do both of those things, but still came up short. Our defense was great, allowing less than 200 yards and only 7 points. Unfortunately the offense was shut out. We could move the ball all day, but once we got in scoring range we would either turn the ball over or take a dumb sack to put us out of field goal range. Frustrating to get shut out when we had well over 300 yards of offense, but it just wasn't our day. Given the circumstances, playing a solid team like Oregon as tightly as we did is pretty encouraging, especially given where we were last year

At HON who surely is bitter after a 4th quarter PR TD ended up being the difference in last year's wildcard match (we would say that we beat the crap out of them but I can agree to disagree).

We started things true to our platonic ideal with a 7 minute 14-play drive culminating in a TD but lost our starting TE and leading passing target. A big play from TE Bohme got HON in our end but they stalled out at our 2 and could only get 3. A sack derailed us on the next possession and HON had a nice efficient run of plays but again could only get 3. We went back to the ground but fumbled it away after crossing midfield, HON pinned us next and took advantage of the short field on the subsequent possession with another FG to go up 2. An INT by Terhorst and big screen gain by HON had them up 9 at the 2 minute warning and they added 7 more on an end-of-half Hail Mary.

The TOs were killing us and really could have been even worse if our D hadn't held up in the RZ.

HON stalled at midfield to open the 2nd half while we went to the air and pulled to within 9 pretty quickly. After getting a defensive stop we fumbled the PR but were lucky to recover and pinned HON at their 5. A 3-and-out by HON was bailed out by a bomb of a punt and us fumbling away our first play to set HON up in our end early in the 4th and they extended the lead to 12 as TOs continued to kill us.

We converted a couple 3rd and longs but came up short on 4th and 1 on a familiar play (side note, we get so many 3rd and shorts this happens all the time, one day I will learn to add more plays there) with just 8 minutes left. Out run D held on but we took over with 6 minutes at our own 4 yard line. A 16 play drive that included a 4th-and-15 conversion (screen pass!) and overcoming 2 offensive penalties culminated in a TD for us but less than 2 minutes left down 5. Our Run D again did its job and HON was punting with just over a minute left and whaddaya know a PR TD and 2 point conversion put us up 3. HON made it to our 43 with 6 seconds left but got tackled at our 7 yard line as time expired.

Really no business winning this game due to the TOs but we were true to our form. 25 first downs including 8/14 on 3rd and 3-0 in the RZ. While on D we gave up less than 2 ypc (including the 2 3 and outs while HON tried to kill clock) and 3/13 on 3rd despite the big plays and 5 YAC/catch leading to more than 9 ypa for HON with the 0-3 from HON in the RZ a big factor as well.

Not sure what the heck we are going to do after losing our 2nd starting TE especially against Tucson's run D next week but things might have to get weird.

GG San Antonio.

We had two backs over 100 yards rushing and each scored 2 TD's.......

I would imagine the win percentage when a team does that is pretty high.

Lucky win for Fargo. Not gonna lie I was really salty about this loss because of the Punt Return TD (again). We were an 11 point favorite for some reason, I knew it would be closer.

Bottom line is the redzone offense killed us, if we could've converted one TD it would've been a win. Coulda Woulda Shoulda

Offense was great until we got to the red zone, and we will be switching it up to help our red zone O. Getting Tim Morris back will be huge, hopefully he can return next game against Las Vegas.

Fargo stole one and I learned from the loss, I hope we see them again in the playoffs for a revenge game. GG

Los Angeles is up next in a must win game for Honolulu. And Las Vegas after in yet another must win game.
