Great Game KC Fan,

I thought we had a chance but that pick 6 sealed the deal for ya.

Hopefully next time I'll put up a better fight.

19-10 Loss

We put the game in Darren Ellis's hands and he lead us to the victory. The defense also played well, contributing 2 picks. Glad to get this win against a very tough KC team. We will see you again week 6.

We start the season with a close win on the road against a division rival, can't ask for much more than that.

Finally, it appears that young QB Irv Clements has arrived. He was on fire today. The final box score may not look overly impressive, but almost all of his incompletions came from being under pressure or drops from the receivers. Clements threw 2 touchdowns, including a strike to rookie Phillip Picton with under 3 minutes to go to take the win. And best of all, Clements didn't turn the ball over.

The running game was non-existent today, which is concerning given that we've been one of the best teams in terms of yards per carry over the last couple of seasons. In past years we would have definitely lost this game with how poor the ground attack was, but now with a balanced offense we have a chance to score against any defense.

Rookie Philip Picton was electric, catching all 9 of his targets for 131 yards and the game winning touchdown. I can't wait to see the chemistry build between Picton and Clements as the year goes on.

There were some issues on defense, giving up too many big plays but the unit did just enough to win. The pass rush was great, sacking the opposing QB 6 times, and we were able to force an interception as well.

On a calm, clear day at rival Denver we started off with 5 straight runs before having a long completion and the drive stopped by a OL penalty and we pinned them at their 6. After forcing the 3andOut we were offsides on the punt and Denver took advantage of the extra chance converting some tight 3rd downs on their way to a TD. We converted a 4th and 2 at midfield and tied things up 3 runs later.

2 big YAC plays got Denver to our 20 but we held them to a FG and after a nice KR we had some good plays both on the ground and in the air before getting a TD (missed XP) for a 3 point lead. Our D got another stop and we got to midfield but threw a pick and Denver was set up in long FG range at the 2 minute warning. We got our own pick though and went 3andOut before more ineptitude by both teams brought us to the half.

Denver was gashing us on the ground but threw an INT inside our 10 on 3rd down. While we couldn't move it we boomed a70 yard punt to pin them at their 7. Denver got another huge YAC play but fumbled it away. Another 3andOut from us though and Denver had it again at their own 4 yard line. A false start followed by a holding call led to a safety and 5 point advantage before a good KR and a couple of long ground gains led to another TD and a 12 point lead.

But Denver got their YAC game going again and quickly brought the lead back down to 5. We stalled out in the orange zone and got our stop but fumbled the PR but this time couldn't take advantage missing the long FG with 10 minutes left. A couple punts had us inside of 8 minutes, and our ground game finally did its job as we added a FG with less than 3 minutes left and Denver couldn't get it done with the game on the line.

Our Run Game was as expected but good lord did the passing game suck. 10/28 for 130yards and a pick is pretty close to 3 ANY+/A. WR Ferguson was 2/14 which is just terrible.
On D, as noted we gave up more than 7 YAC/catch and also got gashed on the ground a bit.

Pretty dissapointing game for us over all but we got the W thanks to winning the TO battle 3-2 in great situations plus getting that safety.

Sorry San Antonio....You played great.....Probably should have won.

Here's to my first last play, 50+ yard, Hail Mary victory!! Woohoo!!

Aside from that.....Our O-line played great. Everything else could use some work.

Not the start we were looking for, but it's a division win.....

Oh! A victory with 4 TD on offense, that's something we haven't seen for a long time in Seattle. Travis Emmons had a shaky start (one completion, one sack and two interceptions for his first four pass attempts), but both QB were a little rusty in the first quarter (4 interceptions within just 7 downs).

LB Chad Prior was a beast, one fumble return and one interception return for a TD!

The bad news is that Emmons is already injured with a strained hamstring for an unknown duration. We'll see next week if the offense could carry on like this without him.

GG Tucson - Feels good to get revenge for the playoff loss

My offense really showed up. 41 points scored, also we scored on 7 consecutive drives, besides a one play drive and the end of the 2nd with only 23 seconds left.

Lenny Morrison was as advertised running for over 6 yards a carry, albeit only on 14 attempts. We'll look to get him 20+ the rest of the year. He had 16 touches for 134 yards, which is insanely good.

Cooper Allen won Offensive player of the week in a nearly perfect game 70% and 3 tds.

Defense gave up way too many big plays for my liking but also came through with 3 turnovers on the day to make up for it.

Week 2 at Tennessee won't be any easy matchup. I expect another high scoring game.

In other news, Seattle took down Alaska in a huge upset that no one saw coming. A shame that Emmons got hurt.
