Hosting Tucson on a brisk clear day.

We had the ground game going but threw a pick at midfield setting up TUC in FG range and they weren't challenged on their way to 7. A 3andO with a recovered stripsack didn't help us, TUC got a big YAC gain but came up short on a long FG attempt after getting stuffed on 3rd and short. We got the O back on track with our runs and TE game and tied things up.

Both run Ds held the running games along with pass pressure led to 5 consecutive punts with us slightly on top of a field position battle before another pick led to TUC getting into our end only to have the FG blocked on a bad snap and 2 more punts during the 2 minute drills.

A real barnburner...

TUC got another huge 3rd down gain and this time got close enough to get the FG and a 3 point lead. A 3rd INT from Terhorst led to another FG from TUC but we got the O humming enough to get into FG range and cut the lead to 3. A 3andO from TUC got us the ball back and we approached midfield with the game already in the 4th Q and ended up punting it into the endzone from the orange zone.

We got a 3rd down sack inside of 10 minutes and got our own YAC play on3rd and short to get us to the TUC26 before kicking the gametying FG. TUC brought the clock down to nearly 2 minutes converting a couple 3rds and getting intermediate gains but missed a 3rd FG. We finally hit a deep ball and an intermediate gain in the RZ gave us a TD and 7 point lead with 107 seconds remaining and unsurprisingly TUC couldn't move it.

Another tight win despite 3 INTs from Terhorst. Not sure what is wrong with our running game but it certainly isn't what we figured the past couple weeks. We haven't had time to do custom O gameplans this season but it might be necessary at some point.

WR Suhocki tore us up but otherwise our D was pretty good against some talent in TUC with the 3 missed FGs essentially being the difference. No new injuries and 3-0 despite some obvious problems looks like a WC loss this year so far.

Pathetic showing by us today. Wanted to go for a run-heavy gameplan to set up easy throws on 3rd down to keep the chains moving. Boy, did that backfire. Despite decent runs on first and second down, penalties kept putting us in 3rd and impossible situations. Later in the game we moved to more of a passing offense as we fell behind and our QB just got lit up. 3 lost fumbles off of strip sacks and Irv Clements threw a pick to give us 4 turnovers on the day. Not going to win many games like that. Last season our defense was good enough to keep us in games like this but that side of the ball has taken a step back as well.

Now we have to face a hot Honolulu team and this season is quickly getting away from us

Rookie QB Damian Sinclair was welcomed to the league with a brutal start.

The second play of the game (the first pass attempt by Sinclair) and OC Lester dials up trouble from long distance:

2-8-LVS27 (1Q: 14:27) Damian Sinclair pass was intended for WR Mason Conley and was intercepted by S Trey Barnikow at the SEA32. The interception was returned 20 yards. Tackled by Mason Conley.

After holding Seattle to a 3-and-out, Sinclair gets another chance following a false start and gets to throw it again:

1-15-LVS15 (1Q: 12:36) Play-Action. Damian Sinclair pass completed to RB Gilbert Narcisse for 8 yards. Tackled by CB Reuben Parrish. The receiver ran his route right over the middle of the field. The ball was fumbled and recovered by SEA Owen Jurevicius on the LVS23.

Two passes, two turnovers - welcome to the CFL rookie!

Later in the 3rd quarter, Sinclair continues to show signs that his 7/35 rating may not be his epitaph, as the offense struggled to support the rookie all day:

3-6-LVS25 (3Q: 06:19) Damian Sinclair pass completed to WR Claude Kindley for 75 yards and a TOUCHDOWN! Kindley gained 44 yards after the catch. PENALTY: T Cristian Shea of Las Vegas was called for Offensive Holding.

Seattle's run defense is stout but we dropped a very winnable game in an effort to establish something at the QB position. Sinclair was statistically the better quarter back in the game and will continue to get more starts as the season progresses, hopefully leading to some much needed development and much needed higher draft pick.

GG Cleveland.....

Something is amiss in Tennessee.... Some of our highly rated players are not living up to their ratings and I think a few of them will see some bench time. Two more games should give us an indication if we are buyers or sellers at the trade deadline. At least Shreveport dropped a game so things aren't out of reach yet.

Our bend but don't break defense allowed some yards but also forced some turnovers and didn't allow many points...its a good thing since our offense is not playing very well right now.
GL the rest of the season

GG Oregon

During the offseason I took advantage of all avenues to get better, Trade/FA/Draft and it's paid off big time. The Offense looked unstoppable against Oregon, only punting on 3 occasions. 4 TDs in the redzone, one bad pick stopped it from being 5. Additions of Morrison/Brady/Stanton have been huge on O. 34.3 points a game and over 50% on third down on Offense is insanely good.

Defensively we were stout only allowing 10 points on the day and turning it over 3 times.

This team is looking championship quality and we've defeated 3 good squads. It doesn't get any easier this week against a sneaky Atlanta team. They are underperforming at 1-2 and I had high expectations for them this season, so I don't think this is a guaranteed win by any means.

That being said, if this game turns out like the first 3 games have for both teams, we'll be coming home with a win.

Other league news
Honolulu, Boston and Fargo are the only undefeated teams left after 3 weeks. While early, Honolulu has a 2 game lead on the division. Boston and Seattle are much improved from last season already.
