One thought: those of us with unsigned rookies won't be able to do weight training until they sign their contracts. In SP we have a chance to sign them and do weight training at this stage, but with our MP schedule we can't. Would it be worth considering having a "midweek" export after the end of FA 4-5 so that those rookies can get signed before shipping off to TC?

Despite my desire to get into camp ASAP, I would strongly support this idea.

^^^What he said^^^^

Not that I have any unsigned rookies that need to do weight training, but I think its a good idea if I ever do need to do that.

i disagree...its the risk we run when we negotiate for a better deal...lets talk about this for next year...once the stage is here its too late to consider the changes...

I have to agree with dberner. This is something for next season. This season is already in progress and this would be changing the "rules" so to speak.

Also, I don't know if the game will allow an extra stage to be run anyways.

I also think this would be a good move for the future. Maybe we could even consolidate another stage or two of Late FA to make it so this wasn't actually slowing us down. (I'm thinking something like run Late FA 1, then run 2-3, then 4-5 to save a day.)

I'm with this line of thinking...[/quote33b4b54]Me three. If you want your guy in the weight room all spring, you gotta sign 'em early. One day of weight training before camp won't do anything. Right now, I [b33b4b54]never[/b33b4b54] offer the best contract first time. This might make me think about it someday.

Really, though, we're hacking off one signing opportunity by grouping the last sim. So the idea that you need to get negotiations done early works fine, but if that's the case, don't rob me of an opportunity to make an additional offer by grouping two late free agency stages together.

Yeah, but you can only make one offer through the five stages. The second offer doesn't come until after stage 5, which gives you four exports to make an offer.

Interesting idea - we can do that next year. And maybe combine late FA 3, 4, and 5 all together since players seem to sign any offer at stage 3 and later anyway.

Personally, I like how Late FA is now. If you combine 3,4,5 people will swoop in and steal players in round 3 and you won't get a chance to make offers to other players to fill your roster spots because free agency will be over.

I can't wait to unwrap the REAL look at these rookies, it is so close.

Plus we get to see if weight training paid off. [img743dd22]http://emoticons4u.com/crazy/1028.gif[/img743dd22]

Sure you can - you can make offers during the new "midweek" stage or even in the training camp stage itself.

Problem is, you can only offer 1 year deals to rookies which limits the ability to send them to summer league.

I disagree with this mindset. This is clearly not how Jim meant for negotiations to work - in SP you get another chance to sign players before setting weights/camp orders. Our current setup deviates from the SP game in not allowing for an additional export.

But whatever. It's done. I hope we can make this change for next year.

Huh? They're just asking for 1 year deals. If you pay them enough, they'll sign for 2 years.

I've signed a few in late FA with minimum 2 year deals. It's unluckly they will make the team or see summer league as I probably would be more likely to send a later round draft pick, but the option would be there. It's just something to factor into the rule is all. It's by no means a major factor.

The aging veterans took the usual hits. The early round picks all went in the positive direction slightly and it looks like we're gonna have quite a battle at RB for the next 3 years with the 2 rookies.

The biggest surprise was former #1 overall pick [player]Howie Bernard[/player] gained +7/+7 to bring him up to a even 90/90. I know that's not a stretch for a 3rd year guy, but to gain that on a high end guy who already looked to have reached his potential isn't common.
