Tampa Bay, FL (AP): The Tampa Bay Torpedoes hosted the Memphis Express and lost by the final score of 16-10. Express ILB [player]Allen Jacobs[/player] was named MVP as he recorded 7 tackles, a sack, and forced a fumble. Offensively, the Torpedoes were able to move the ball through the air, but their run game was shutdown. The Torpedoes allowed 3 sacks and turned the ball over 4 times, which made the difference in this game. The Torpedoes were shutdown on 3rd down. The Torpedoes were held to 10 points on 3 trips to the Red Zone. The Express dominated the time of possession and set the pace of the game. Defensively, the Torpedoes limited the Express passing game, but the Express continued to bang it out on the ground. The Torpedoes recorded 4 sacks. The Torpedoes made key stops on 3rd down. The Torpedoes held the Express to 16 points on 4 trips to the Red Zone. The Torpedoes are currently in 2nd place of the AC ATLANTIC. The Torpedoes (2-1) host the Baltimore Bombers (2-1) next week in an AC ATLANTIC showdown and battle for the division lead. Can the Torpedoes win at home or will the Bombers find a way to pull off a win on the road to remain atop the AC ATLANTIC?

Torpedoes Head Coach, Alvin Peterson had these comments after the game, "This was a disappointing loss. We overlooked the Express and they brang it to us on our own turf. If you can't protect the ball in the CFL, it's tough to win games. We need to do a lot better at protecting the ball. We will review the game film and find ways to improve. We need to put this loss aside and get back on track. We host the Baltimore Bombers next week in a divisional matchup and this will be a key early season game, which neither team can afford to lose. We need to set the tone early on defense, establish our running game, and protect the football if we want to have a shot at winning this game!"
