[b9d8da5d]3.19[/b9d8da5d]

LDT Harold Hudson
6'2"
291 ilbs.
Michigan

Hudson was a surprise at the 3.19 spot. It's hard to say the Rounders were targeting Hudson for 3.19 as he should have been gone late in the 2nd at the latest. Either way, Vegas fills a big need at DT with a run stuffer like Hudson. With Butch Straw and Ah Yat mentoring Hudson it shouldn't be long before he becomes a recognized name.

WLB Juan Gaylor
6'0"
234 lbs.
Alabama - Birmingham

[img9d8da5d]http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h145/ ... Gaylor.jpg[/img9d8da5d]

Gaylor was in a group of targeted outside linebackers that could rush the passer. Gaylor wasn't necessarily the best of that group but has the pass rush technique and play diagnosis the Rounders defense needs.

[b9d8da5d]4.29[/b9d8da5d]

FB Cole Humphrey
5'11"
222 lbs.
Akron

[img9d8da5d]http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h145/ ... mphrey.jpg[/img9d8da5d]

Humphrey is not the kind of player that makes everyone's list but his pass blocking, blitz pickup, hands, and special teams play put him on the Rounders' radar. Inside sources suggest that Humphrey's interview was one of the most positive and promising coming out of the Vegas draft preparations.

C Ken Hewitt
5'11"
263 ilbs.
San Diego State

[img9d8da5d]http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h145/ ... ineman.jpg[/img9d8da5d]

Hewitt's performance in his pro day at USC indicated he had both the run and pass blocking skills required of a CFL center, but it might just be Hewitt's Napoleon complex that drew Vegas' attention. At 5'11", Hewitt is quite short for an offensive linemen and has the attitude desired by GM TurfToe.

[b9d8da5d]6.32[/b9d8da5d]

C Joel Hastings
6'3"
300 lbs.
UTEP

[img9d8da5d]http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h145/ ... stings.jpg[/img9d8da5d]

Hastings value as a durable pass blocking center was enough to warrant being drafted but it could turn out to be his versatility that adds to his career as a pro. Hastings has played every position on the line and even played extended stints at G and T in college. Hastings has a chance to make the rounders' roster at the guard or center positions.

[b9d8da5d]7.26[/b9d8da5d]

LDE C.J. Wu
6'2"
261 lbs.
Illinois

[img9d8da5d]http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h145/ ... 0gt/Wu.jpg[/img9d8da5d]

Wu has already made an impact in Las Vegas. This 7th rounder out of Illinois is already one of the fan's favorites and seems to have managed in marketing. The local media couldn't wait to talk to surprise third round pick Hudson but have filled a mjority of their programming with Wu clips since. Vegas is hoping he is as good on Sundays as he is on weekday sports talk radio. Sources indicate Wu might get tried at outside linebacker due to his superior run defense and play diagnosis skills.

[b9d8da5d]7.32[/b9d8da5d]

K Deron O'Conner
5'11"
195 lbs.
Illinois

[img9d8da5d]http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h145/ ... kicker.jpg[/img9d8da5d]

Apparently there was a run on fighting Illini on the second day of the draft as the Rounders make O'Conner Mr. Irrelevant at 7.32. O'Conner's strong leg make him an ideal choice to challenge incumbent Engeln or even as a kickoff specialist. time will tell if Mr. Irrelevant can call himself Mr. Employed.

[b9d8da5d]Summary[/b9d8da5d]

Considering the draft was conducted mostly in the GM's absence and the accidental drafting of the same position twice in the 6th round, the draft went surprisingly well for the Rounders. Hudson was a straight up steal in the middle of the 3rd and Humphrey's development (or lack thereof) could overshadow the overall quality of the draft.
