This franchise has finished over .500 just twice in the last 10 years (10-6 in 2012 & 11-5 in 2010). There is a feeling, however, that this team is close to making a breakthrough, and maybe this will be the year.

The Inferno believes they have the foundation in place to do it with a solid defensive line which has been strengthened considerably with the acquisitions of linebacker Jim McCormick and safety Rod Kelsay. McCormick will be backed up by former CFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Ian Hailey at MLB, it's a formidible secondary which can only improve and if 10 year veteran defensive end Ronnie Huey can repeat the 8 sacks he had last year the Inferno fans should see lots of good things from this group.

On offense, Texas has faith that if quarterback Luther Wylder stays healthy they will have a triggerman who can make good use of the aerial threat provided by TE Alan Lucas (45 catches for 402 yards and 4 touchdowns in only twelve games because of injuries), and young SE Rusty Moore who had a breakout year last season with 66 receptions for 900 yards and 5 touchdowns. Add newly drafted wideman Daryl Perkins to the mix and Wylder has another big target in 2019.

Despite ranking 27th in the league in scoring last season (in a large part due to injuries) the Inferno believes they can do much more if they can get the running game untracked. They are looking for answers for a run-game that rushed for 100 yards only twice last season and combined with staying healthy, 1st round draft pick Ronaldo Kastilahn could be the key. Behind an overhauled offensive line that will include the newly acquired run-stuffing Heath Wooden and draft picks Ellis Boyer and Lester Acevedo, Kastilahn and RB Jake Yates will be required to open up team defenses allowing Wylder and his receivers to do their stuff.

The Texas Inferno believe in themselves and will get a chance to prove they are right during the first month of the season as they play EFC Yankee Champs Atlantic City Phantoms and WFC Cavalry Champs Denver Dynomite on the road. By the end of week 5 they will have faced three 2018 playoff teams and one of the teams they have to knock off to win their division in Huntington Beach.
