Judging how my draftees are looking after training camp, I'm going to have to download my draft grade to a C. My 1st round pick is still unsigned, so I have hope there, but my 2nd and 3rd round picks are looking like borderline starters with the rest looking like career backups at best. After the third round, the CB I picked up in the 7th is probably my best looking player. I may switch him over to strong safety (he's 6'4, 220) where he could be a starter eventually. Only one good free agent rookie on my team, a center that looks like a very solid backup for the future and maybe even a starter eventually.

I still don't pay enough attention to the combine numbers during the draft I think. I've never had overwhelming success in this area with FOF2004.

DE Flowers, the overall 1st pick, is still unsigned. The bastard won't accept the long term deal, guess I'm gonna have to settle for 5 years... He already has dropped 1 point in current and 2 points on his potential. Hope he signs soon, I [i5d28556]need [/i5d28556]him !

Detroit's 2nd pick was, as I suspected, a bust. Lost 6 points in potential after training camp. He wasn't very high to begin with. I really hesitated a long time before signing him, but my team sucks so bad I had nothing to lose really...He's not gonna play much though...

Cassidy, my 3rd rounder DT, got another increase of 2 points both in current and potential. He'd already boomed before camp. He will definitely contribute this year, either starting at DT or being the main backup at DL.

My other choices, or unsigned rooks, had average camps, gaining on average maybe a couple of current points, but no change in potential. They will either be carreer backups or cut outright...

'tis gonna be another long year in ze cold city of Detroit...

Bridges turned out better after training camp, and even though he'd only a 68 in future right now I'm happy with the deal. Other than that, no draftees of note in Fargo. Determann will probably be a nickle back, but that's about it. The 6th rounder the CPU picked won't make the team.

My 1st rounder hasn't signed yet, but almost all of my other picks have been disappointments.

*sigh*

Bad draft, but luckily I didn't waste a pick on a WR. Very weak class. My RB was 4th round at best, and I picked him first.

I was satisfied with my draft overall. My top priority was to get them all signed by camp, which I did. My first two picks DE Leon Bronson and C Nate Curtis will be day 1 starters, not that there was much competition at either position. My 6th round pick, punter Dexter Perez also won the job in camp and will be given the chance to punt, but we'll keep a close eye on him in case we need to bring in a vet if he falters. Round 3 pick DT Ellis Guynes will be solid backup but probably never a starter. My 5th round WR looks like he'll make the team but thats about it. And my 4th round CB appears to be a surefire bust that probably wont be on the team next year. My 7th round pick K Louis Tubbs didn't make the team, as there was no way he was beating out my all world veteran kicker.

All and all I think pulling 3 day one starters out of what I thought was a pretty weak draft overall was solid. I especially thought this draft was horrible at the WR and CB positions, with a lot of reaches going on there. With Flowers holding out, I fully expect Bronson to get 8-10 sacks, and be the defensive rookie of the year.

Although the computer gave me an A+, i'd have to give myself a B on this one.

My first round pick, CB Brady Scott, got his ass in gear and signed before training camp. I wonder if he heard the rumor that we would have waited him out until the 3rd week in the regular season. Although he looked to be a bust initially, he had a good training camp and should be starting on opening day.

My second round pick, FS Louie Reed, got trumped by the incumbent. I guess he didn't take too kindly to new blood at his position. Louie didn't have a good training camp, but my other FS had a really good training camp. Louie will be no more than a back up this year.

My third round pick, DE Scottie Berosik, will be riding pine and playing in relief of my starters. I didn't draft him to start, I drafted him to be a quality backup, which is the road that he seems to be taking.

My fifth round pick, P Alan Solwold, did not turn any heads in training camp. However, the incumbent punter did. Alan was resting on his laurels that he was drafted relatively high for a punter. Unfortunately for him, somebody else was working hard during the offseason. Solwold will need to battle for a spot on the roster and may end up on the outside when preseason is over.

My sixth round pick, LB Rondell Talley, looks like he will be the pass rush specialist that we were looking for. He still is pretty raw and needs to refine his technique, but has a powerful rush and is a punishing hitter. He'll most likely make the team, I'll have to find a spot for him.

My seventh round pick, G Everett Knight, is a pleasant surprise. I didn't think that he'd make the roster this year, but he had a good training camp and my scouts say that he will be a reliable back up. This will allow me to let go one of my more veteran backups. Everett Knight will make the team.

1st round: RB Monty Boyd. Drafted to start in place of Frazee, who left for frigid Anchorage. Not by any means an All-Pro right away, but a solid camper and is ready to play.

2nd round: FS A.J. Scott. Won't start, but should be in contention for the 3rd-string and backup free safety spot.

4th round: T William Nixon. We had no third-round pick, so there was a drop in talent before we got a decent passblocker. He's strong, but isn't starter material.

4th round: QB Joel Rivers. A slight bust, as he lost seven points in his future estimation. However, he should be able to compete for a backup role.

A QB named Rivers busts after the draft...
Not a very good sign for the real life SD Chargers...

I had my eye on him at the end of the draft, but pulled the trigger on a different guard in the 5th round. Looks like I took the wrong one. I was hoping Knight would slip through the draft
