While Vegas' presence in the draft this year was newsworthy itself, the 2026 draft was a typical Vegas draft, which is typically anything but typical.

Before TurfToe could get the Rounders on the clock, a trade was announced that sent the 2.29 and 4.29 selections this year to Tennessee in exchange for the 1.29 that previously belonged to Vegas.

With the 1.29 pick Vegas selected Miami CB Don Paquette.

Don Paquette
5'10", 182 lbs.

TurfToe had this to say about Paquette, "Don was an intruiging pick. We originally were looking for DE Duran in this spot but soething happened between the war room and the stage and we ended up with Paquette. Honestly, we're a little concerned about this kid panning out based on what we've seen so far but anything can happen in training camp. He does have solid return skills providing us with some flexibility with other roster spots. We didn't plan on selecting at the 1.29 and weren't really prepared for this pick but we couldn't pass up the value being offered in the deal. If Don doesn't make a move from where he is at currently, this will be a disappointing pick for us".

Using a pick aquired in the trade of DT Jack Alkateeb, Vegas then selected Beaver DT Eric Fogg.

Eric Fogg
6'6", 311 lbs.
Oregon State

"Eric is a special run defender. His sub-5 second 40 time is impressive for a man his size. Not only cn he play the run tough inside, he has the speed and agility to make plays down the line and even in pursuit. We are expecting Eric to not only make the roster but to be one of the first tackles to rotate in".

The first pick Vegas had that they had planned on having was the 5.29. However, this pick appeared to be used as a freebie in selecting the first of two Cocks, from South Carolina.

Lincoln Angelo, K
5'10", 195 lbs.
South Carolina

"We haven't had a lot of success drafting kickers although Engeln was a staple for us for many years. Bruner kicks like a mule on steroids but has the accuracy of a mule on steroids. Angelo seems to have the leg strength and accuracy every team wants. If we have the space we will carry both kickers to address all of our kicking needs".

The second Cock was the second cornerback and the second Lincoln taken by Vegas in 2026.

Lincoln Anderson
5'10", 183 lbs.
South Carolina
Pre-Camp 18/48 | Post-Camp 20/43 [bc74a30f]+2/-5[/bc74a30f]

"Lincoln is not the biggest or the fastest guy but he is a ball hawk. As good as his hands are his run defense is better. The current joke is that Lincoln, the other Lincoln, Angelo the kicker, can kick Lincoln Anderson's ass. While Angelo has 10 or so pounds on him, I'm fairly certain Anderson would come out on top, he's fiesty, he has the attitude I look for in a corner. I think both of the corners we drafted this year will battle their way into significant playing time at the second corner spot or the nickel. We're confident in their abilities and even more confident that our secondary will be vastly improved regardless of which of the 20 corners we have make the roster".

Regardless of TurfToe's optimism, there is significant concern over the true potential of Paquette, especially as a first rounder. While the others look solid, only time will tell...
