Football Outsiders Adjusted Line Yards:
One of the oldest theories in football is that you need to have a strong offensive line in order to be successful. The adjusted line yards report attempts to measure the impact of blocking while filtering out long gains. This year, we are going to track this report and see if it really does have merit. Percentages are amount over/under the league average.
Top Five
1- Huntington Beach Wolfpack (6-2) +19%
2- Durham Bulldogs (2-6) +13%
2- Tulsa Talons (1-7) +13%
5- Boise Stampede (3-5) +8%
5- Anchorage Anchors (5-3) +8%
5- Tennessee Militia (5-3) +8%
Bottom Five
28- Fargo Frontier (6-3) -13%
29- Shreveport Pride (5-3) -14%
30- Albany Crows (5-3) -18%

TEN THINGS I THINK I THINK:
1- Baltimore has been opponents an offensive lesson this year. QB Brian Bauer has thrown for 21 touchdowns while throwing for over 300 yards four times (one short of a career high). WR’s Skip Upshaw (53 rec. for 738 yards) and Floyd Poland (39 rec. for 597 yards) are both in the top ten for receiving yards.
2- Seattle QB Kurt Hoffman may be wishing he had not ended his contract holdout in the preseason. He has been sacked a league high 29 times and knocked down a league high 26 times.
3- The new sack leader in the CFL this year is Leland Wellins of Shreveport. Wellins is on a tear with 13.5 sacks, surpassing his previous career high of 10 set last year.
4- How about that performance by Brooklyn QB Rico “Suave” Fitzpatrick. Fitzpatrick threw for 376 yards and won his first player of the week award on his 44th nomination.
5- Amazing fact of the day: Tucson has more championships (8) than playoff appearances by thirteen franchises.
6- Las Vegas punter Alonzo Spires has been masterful this year in pinning opponents inside their own 20. He leads the league with 30 kicks inside the 20.
7- The best running back in the CFL to use on 3rd and short is Anchorage RB Vincent Milne. Milne is 12/13 for a 92% success rate.
8- If Las Vegas CB Stan Casillas keeps playing at this level, he could be in the mix for MVP. Not only is he tied for the league lead with five interceptions, his pass defensed percentage is an amazing 94.9%. And that is on 279 pass plays!
9- Speed kills (and I mean in a good way). Both of the remaining undefeated teams have one of the fastest players in the CFL: Donnell Sherman for Omaha and Jim Brost for Tucson. They each have been clocked at 4.27 in the 40 yard dash.
10- Omaha should consider relocating to Lincoln. The team has very poor support (0) and an aging stadium (26), which drives down the value of the franchise. Less than 50 miles away, you have a city that is pleading for a team.
