1.10 - Anthony Bjorkstam - SS (Wyoming)

Bjorkstam's draft selection was the result of an outstanding combine. His speed agility and strength project well at either the corner or safety spot. He's a bit small for strong safety though. The big knock was his broad jump, but this shouldn't matter since he's not coming in to return kicks.

1.30 - Cris Shaw - CB (Ohio State)

A solid combine and his play on the field seem to align with those combine numbers. He should be a solid player in the secondary for some time. The addition of Shaw and Bjorkstam take the sting of losing Burton somewhat away.

2.9 - Jerome Reed - WR (Clemson)

In an overall good WR class, Reed was still available at 1.9. His Solecismic score was high and should result in a heavily masked route running skill. We felt his getting downfield is masked some as well. If the rest of his bars hold, he could develop nicely to a WR rated in the high 50's.

3.10 - J.R. Stargell - PK (California)

When the bidding war continued for the services of our premier kicker in free agency, we felt is was time to manage the cap for the future and select a new PK for the next decade. Having plenty of picks and this being a relatively good class for kickers, we felt "Willy" Stargell was a good pick.

So long Mr. Bowens, you and your $32,000,000 cap hit will not be missed in San Antonio.

4.8 - Ross Becker - T (Lawrence)

This undersized tackle from a small school showed something to our scouts as they had him as very underated. His combines were good but he is raw. Here's hoping he can develop into a quality backup at least.

4.9 - Zach Henry - CB (Georgia Tech)

He's a big corner who will play the run very well. His bars look good and his combines showed enough. Questionable endurance, but he'll play special teams and situational on defense likely in goal line and see how he develops on the nickel and dime formations.

5.10 - Oliver Ackerman - WR (Wake Forest)

He missed the combine, but his solecismic score was the highest among this year's WR class. His position drill was slightly below the best of the class. We liked his height as well. He is not very developed but in the 5th it was well worth a gamble on this kid. He has boom or bust written all over him.

6.9 - Nolan Downs - TE (California)

We were trying to move up and select FB Rob Hutchins, but couldn't find a trade partner. Downs is undersized for a TE and may be making the shift to FB.

7.10 - Derek Dotson - FB (Dartmouth)

Based on his bars, he's not and ideal lead blocker but he has a ton of intabgibles in terms of special teams, blitz pickup and catching the ball out of the backfield. He could be used as 3rd down type guy or power inside runner.

Overall our draft was not flashy. But we felt we added some good pieces this year and picked up a future 1st in the process leaving us with 3 picks in the 1st round next year when we hope the talent pool is a little better at the top.

Bjorkstam. There's a joke in that name somewhere, but I'll be damned if I can find it.

It's a fairly common name, I don't see anything funny about it. Some struggle with the pronunciation though...

It's pronounced "Stam", the "Bjork" is silent.
