Game Report: Texas 9, Atlantic City 14
Week 2
PLAYER OF THE GAME
ILB Darnell Lyon
The veteran linebacker was a force all over the field this week with 16 tackles and 1 assist. Even after 10 years, Lyon is still one of the better inside linebackers in the CFL.
MISSING IN ACTION
Passing Game
QB Tyrone Dillon threw for only 125 yards as the passing game was poor. This is not unexpected, however, and on the plus side Dillon took what the defense gave him and didn’t force the ball down the field.
TURNING POINT
Texas was the better team in the second half and looked to be ready to drive down for a game winning field goal with less than 5 minutes left in the game before ACI safety Dwight Ross came up with a huge interception. The Phantoms running game then took over and kept the ball for the last 3:42 in the game to get the win.
If YOU MISSED IT
• For the second game in a row, rookie DE Mike Hipp recorded a sack. DT Darren Richardson seems to be revitalized by Hipp and recorded two sacks of his own.
• Rookie 2nd round pick Monty Dunlap was indeed traded as he was shipped to Tennessee for a 1st and a 5th round pick. In the 2032 draft, ACI now has two 1st round and two 2nd round picks.
BY THE NUMBERS
27.2 - ACI’s Omar Goodwin average on three kick returns.
3 - Pancakes by OG Donnie Crumley
7 - Penalties by ACI
