Game Report: Tulsa 17, Atlantic City 32
Preseason Week 2

PLAYER OF THE GAME – RB J.R. Brustkern
Brustkern looks like he is ready for the regular season after rushing for 137 yards on 16 carries.

MISSING IN ACTION – Pass Defense
Age and the loss of a key cornerback have left the Phantoms defensive backfield with a few question marks. The total passing yards for Tulsa was only 247 so that is not bad for the ACI defense. The concern were 4 passing plays of over 20+ yards. The defense will need to tighten up.

WHAT IF . . .
It is preseason. No what ifs yet…

If YOU MISSED IT
• QB Todd Nelson was given the start ahead of Rico Firth. Nelson had a pretty good game at 9/14, 88 yards, 1 TD and a 105.6 rating. When Firth got his chance, he promptly threw an interception and completed only two passes. This QB battle will last all preseason.
• Rookie WR Donald Kruger showed he is going to add some punch to the ACI passing game with 5 catches for 111 yards and a touchdown.
• Kruger also showed that while he is a threat to return any kick for a touchdown, he is also prone to fumbling (he had two in this game).
• DT Neil Farr was signed in free agency to provide some depth behind starter Darren Richardson. He promptly went -12 / -12 in TC and moved from a solid backup to on the bubble. So what does he do in preseason week 1? How about 2 sacks, 3 tackles, 2 hurries and 1 knockdown.

BY THE NUMBERS
4 - 10+ yard rushes by ACI running backs
86 - Rushing yards allowed
7 - Red Zone Visits
6- Field goals by Dixon Finch (he was 6/6 – What?)

Nelson looked real good, if the change becomes permanent will we see Firth on trading block or will you keep him to backup and mentor?

I thought the pick we made would have been interesting. DT Medlin had a pick. That would have been a good play to see. 6'6" 316 lb. DT making a pick and returning it 11 yds. Only during the preseason.

With the young QB's on the roster Firth would remain as a mentor. In addition, the young QB's are not ready to step in if the #1 QB got hurt and ACI has playoff aspirations this year.
