Week 4 Picks by Jimmy the Geek

Game of the Week

#7 Iowa City @ #1 Hartford -6

Image

Iowa City has been at or below the .500 mark the last three seasons and are looking to break thru to the next level. Standing in the way of a 3-1 start is Hartford. Hartford has scored 30+ points in each game this year and don’t appear to be slowing down as they go for their 5th straight league championship. The Soldiers face a daunting task as Hartford has the #1 scoring offense and #4 scoring defense. Iowa City will need to control the clock behind the #3 ranked rushing attack and rookie RB Kenny Sanders. That is much easier said than done. Despite a valiant effort, Hartford will be too much for the Soldiers.

Shoot the Scheduler Game of the Week

#18 San Antonio @ #3 Durham -6

Image

San Antonio has played some very good football to start the year but have had the toughest schedule with their first three opponents a combined 8-1. This includes close losses to #2 Death Valley and #5 Atlantic City. It doesn’t get any easier this week against Durham, 3-0 and ranked #3. The passing tandem of QB Gary Farr and WR Frankie Parker should be a big advantage for the Stingers but Parker is nursing a sore thumb. The Bulldogs have injury concerns of their own with all-world LB Charles Shepard questionable with a sprained knee. An upset by San Antonio could turn around their season while a loss could create a very tough hole to dig out of. Take the upset as Durham feels the sting and San Antonio get their first win.
