Tried out a new GP process this week will see hwo it goes. Had ot sit one of my stud WRs again and will be playing Crabtree dinged up but at 1-3 we can't afford to let that risk affect our best efforts at getting a W. This Roger Bailey fella looks like the real deal for LAS will see hwo we do...They run a weird dink and screen offense with the TEs and backfield getting more targets than the WRs. On D they don't have much top talent or weaknesses, the Crabtree / Schwartz matchup may decide this one.

LAS ran it well but couldn't overcome a holding call only to have us fumble the PR and we have em dead to rights but they hit the TE on 3rd and long for the TD. 3and0 for us and htey continue to hitus onthe ground and plod their way to 3 points. DL Shapiro gets his 2nd 3rd down hurry to get us off the field and LAS doesn't even need a 3rd down as they run a very nice drive to go up 17. Woodard answers though going 5/5 as we grab our TD haflway through the 2nd. We force LAS backwards and would take over on their side of the field but another lost PR fumble is a huge missed opportunity. Stud Edgeman ALexander gets a sack and a hurry to end the threat at least. But what do you know now Fulton has butterfingers and LAs is threatening again but our D holds and they miss the long FG with 4 minutes left. A 3rd down scramble at midfield leads to yet another fumble and LAS recovers (that is 4 btw now) and this time they hit the FG. Down 13 we are still in this game but Woodard throws a pick only to have Alexander get a pick for us in return and we end up cutting the lead to 10 at the half all the time.

I won't harp on the fumbles, I have been aware and trying to figure out how to quit fumbling PRs for a number of seasons without luck. Otherwise our run D is getting gashed but our Pass D has been excellent with LAs at less than 3 ANY/A, our own running game hasn't got going yet but that coudl change in the 2nd half.

We get our own nearly perfect drive getting downfield for 7 in 10 plays or so. Alexander continued ot dominate and got us the stop on 3rd and a nice PR where we kept possesion is followed by 3 chunk gains to have us up 4 all of a sudden. Anothe r3rd down pressure gets Bailey off the field and Crabtree is having himself a day now at 7/9 for 133. Woodard beats the rush on 3rd for a conversion and our runing game has taken off in the 2nd half with our average over 5 ypc now with no big runs inflating that number. We take a sack on 3rd in the RZ and Crabtree aggravates hsi kneee injury. We jsut can't have nice things this season it seems.

After LAS can't mnove it we grind out a long FG range to go up 10. TE FLeming adds some nic echunks for LAS and they knock it in with 4 minutes left. This is what we live for, 4 minutes left up 3 time to ice this. But a 4 yard loss on 2nd means we go 3and0 and LAS takes over outsdie of 2 minutes with all 3 TOs. But longtime man-coverage SS Brewer picks the deep ball to Fleming and this time we pound out the 1st to end it.

Well we were both incredibly lucky and unlucky in this one. Loved our pass D performance even if LAS runs a pretty limited passing game. Was nice to see in the 2nd half that we can bounce back from big deficits, now just have to figure out how to avoid those deficits to begin with. Guess we will try out a new PR man from now on.

Alsaska also ran on the edges on us and I am starting to realize that starting a raw rookei OLB has some pretty serious consequences. He shoudl be better in the 2nd half of the year with all the snaps he is getting but it has been tough so far.

2nd year LB Alexander had perhaps his best game of his career. We started noticing last year late that he was making 2-3 splash plays per game but today he had:
1 Sack
2 Blocks
3 Hurries
2 Knockdowns
2 Passes Defensed
1 INT

So that's roughly 10 impact plays by one player

It is just a 2 week concussion for Crabtree so no biggie but oru other stud WR still has a sprained knee but we may have ot risk it against divisional rival DEN especially since we likely won't be able to run for 200 yards against that front 7.

Other than a couple of long passes for TD's, this was a pretty even game. We'll see you in Memphis to end the season. I have a feeling that one is going to mean something for both of us. Potential division championship/wild card elimination game for both.

Yes we were very lucky to win. For what we do on offense Brandon gives us the best chance to win. When I feel we are out of the playoffs or Brandon is playing poorlyl we will start the rookie.
