Since the inception of the CFL, Shreveport and San Antonio had played 5 times previous to Sunday's game. All five times, San Antonio won. This Sunday, the Pride finally shook the curse and defeated the Armadillos at home by a score of 22-11.
How'd they do it? A heavy dose of running back Weldon Rayburn. Rayburn carried the ball 36 times for 138 yards. All told, the Pride rushed 58 times for 218 yards. The Pride found a new offensive weapon called "Time of Possession." During the game, the Pride held the ball for over 42 minutes to San Antonio's 17 minutes.
Fans of Shreveport were relieved to finally see their Pride win their second game. It only took 9 weeks.
