After injuring his knee in Tulsa's 23-20 loss to Denver. The Tulsa coaches have decided to let RB Butch Fulton sit out the remaing two games, they are worried about any knee injury and the team is clearly out of the playoffs. Rookie Doug Lassner and last year's starter Corwin Dangelo will split the time in the final 2 weeks of the season.
In his first season in the CFL Butch Fulton shattered the Tulsa rushing record by putting up 1,221 yards in 14 games. He was the work horse the team was hoping for when they drafted him # 4 overall. Fulton carried the ball 337 times this season, an average of 24 a game. Almost exactly what the team was hoping for when he was drafted. Now that Fulton is done for the season, he is anxiously awaiting next season as he will be looking to compete for the league rushing title. Also, Fulton is a strong candidate to win Offensive Rookie of the Year.
In other Talon rookie news- WR Daniel Campbell has been named the starter for the final 2 weeks of the season, with the team out of the playoff hunt the coaching staff will be giving the yuong guys more playing time. Campbell has had an average year, 309 yards in 5 starts. Next season Campbell looks to be more of a factor in the passing game, but not a full time starter yet.
Right now the Talon's stand at 5-9, and are looking to win atleast one more this season. Next year the team hopes to have a few more pieces in place and will be looking to make a push for the division title. The team currently has 49 players under contract for next season.
