Darn you Chicago!

I was hoping Garner would fall to the top of the 2nd round.

If Garner were still on the board there's a decent chance that I wouldn't have traded my pick.

Shrevport is now on the clock...

I actually had two guys that I was gonna take, but Manning was higher on my list. I thought that he had fallen pretty far already. This should put some pressure on Jarret Kline to perform. Hell, even if he does . . . ;)

At this stage, it really is very hard to guess who picks whom.

If you really want a player, just grab him.

He would have if you would've traded your pick to someone else.

and that is why it sorta makes me laugh when I hear that people have this or that player pegged for late second round or early third round... Anything can happen...

I thought he was good value at my 1.14 but those damn 'Needs' got in the way. :(

You can get a general idea of the value... for instance.. Harry A. is not even close to 1st round value ;)...

I think value is based on the market. I wouldn't even have considered Harry A. so that would probably negate the other extreme of those who just had to have him.

I think the point here is that if you took his perceived value from all 32 owners, you would find that he falls somewhere in the 3rd round. Without delving into the details of cap situation and picks left for the team that took him, I'm guessing he wanted to make sure he got his guy and that's all that matters. For those who thought it was a reach (as I do), then we should just sit back and enjoy the value that was added to our picks between now and when we thought he should go.

The moral of the story is, if you want/need a guy you need to select him while he is still on the board. It doesn't do you any good to need/want him after he is selected.

Please don't bust Lance, please! *crosses fingers*

I've looked through this thread and haven't seen any comments on Arizona's selection, but has anyone heard what they were thinking by drafting a FB at #17? Might they be planning to convert him to a TE? Or did they really, really want a stud FB?

Well, I have to tell you guys, these were probably the most thrilling minutes in my FOF MP experience so far.

Taking offers from 3 possible trade partners, messages flying back and forth in all directions....

Pretty unusual for me since I don't trade so often, mainly because of the time difference difficulties...

But, this....Truly an exciting time...

Now, I get to sit back and watch until the bottom of the 2nd round...

the tough part of any draft is making that value vs. need decision. That is what allows some guys to fall and others to go early. Some guys will always go on need. That creates what most of us would call a reach because they overlook what appear to be better players to get "the guy". Others who pick on value catch the flack from guys who dont like you taking DEs when you are stacked at DE based on value of talent. The value guys kill those who watch for slipping needed players.

I agree. The reason that I went after 3 first round guys is because there were three late first rounders that I really liked. The other thing that some people forget is that occassionally people will draft a backup high, because they expect not to re-sign the player at the position next year. If there's a guy that you think can take over that position, why not give him 1 year of xp behind the veteran?

I think that you picked him a little high, but he falls into that "fill your need" category. If he fills a need for you and you don't think you can get him with your next pick, then it was a good pick.
