i would leave it alone. We are doing fine. The trouble with utilities is sometimes a run of players happens all at once and then the last team at the end of the string (who once was 20 picks away from the clock) is all the sudden up and out of time when they appeared to be 12 hours from the clock. I like a longer time limit with teams that are conscientious about trying to show up and use picks.

if we really want change for the sake of change maybe the real answer is to treat it like a chess game where each team gets 8 hours total for their use in the draft no matter how many picks etc. and then they go to autopick.

You know, I've been pretty bitchy about this stuff in the past and this season hasn't bothered me at all..

What I don't know if it is a combination of me just giving up and having a job where i can't be online much, or if it has gotten better ;)

I thought his bars looked alright, I had him as the third or fourth best CB available in the third round I think.

THAT is an interesting thought...

I'd say make it 8 hours total with no more than 4 hours allowed for any one pick.

It has been discussed before and I think there is support for it but the utility we use does not support it.

I kinda agree (about the getting better part), we've only had the clock running officially since Sunday, so that's only 4 days and we're now on round 5 so we're probably on pace to have one of the fastest ever in the CFL.

Yes, but we had a week headstart.

I think the rule of reducing the clock to zero for missing a pick is the best solution we've had that also works with the utility. I was lambasted for suggesting shortened times a few seasons ago so maybe I was just ahead of my time. I don't think the draft has been that bad this year though.

I've fallen into some spots where I was trying to trade but real life got in the way of effective communication but whatever. It's fantasy fantasy football as my forgotten wife and lost children always seem to remind me. Let's not forget its importance in the grand scheme of things.

Are you trying to tell me that I should not skip meals in order to play FOF?

Looks like Atlantic City is almost out of time- Game needs are ILB, G, back up G. With only 2 Gaurds under contract I say we take the BPA from that position when the time is up.

I was just reading through some older stuff here that I hadn't caught earlier. I did decide to test the ability to assign new nicknames to undrafted players and confess to being the one to dub Les Nielsen "Shirley". TurfToe and I have also discovered that you can assign nicknames to players that are not on your own team in 2007. I forgot who I re-nicked on his team, but I discovered weeks later that Wayne "The Cork" Nofsinger had been changed to Wayne "The Dork" Nofsinger. So just be careful and make sure you dust of your players nicknames every now and again. Surely, I can't be serious . . .

I am serious and don't call me Shirley.

For the record, I'm not sure that we need to make any changes to the draft either. But there's been enough consternation about it that I felt compelled to suggest that folks come up with solutions. And if some good ideas come out of it, great, but if nothing changes, I think I'll be just fine.

I'm really not unhappy with our overall pace, but I do get frustrated when folks no-show AND fail to use the utility. As I mentioned earlier it may be worth revisiting how we handle that situation, but otherwise I'm fairly content with how things are working under our current rules.

Oh, and my earlier "tip o' the cap" for Nielsen's nickname now gets redirected to you, RH. Well done!

I did decide not to go around and rogue-change a bunch of nicknames. But you can't imagine how tempted I was to change San Antonio's Bob "Pancake" Wells to Bob "Johnny Cakes" Wells. It took all the restraint I could muster to resist that one.

This was in reference to Texas not you. But I agree with Ravenhawk, turn your damn utility on!!!  [/quotee2d1033]

hey tool, i checked in at 0630 to see if i had a message, can't help it if i have job that i can't be here every waking minute, and why would i turn the utility on if i do not have a deal in place at the time...[/quotee2d1033]

Hey dumbass :smt021 Read the first part again. Is there anywhere I state for you to turn your utility on? As far as checking in again read the first part of the post, I state you did not confirm, and was asking how we deal with this. Before you start throwing names out there read the whole post asshole :smt097[/quotee2d1033]

:smt057 can you feel the love in the air, i guess i was confused by the "This was in reference to Texas not you. But I agree with Ravenhawk, turn your damn utility on!!!" line, but i guess you didn't say that  . The point i was trying to make is that i had no way of knowing that the trade had been accepted by stretch, i did check in at 630am est to see, but there was no reply, probably because stretch had not seen it until early this morning. I did check it from work as soon as i could and made the pick asap. i didn't turn on the utility since no deal was inplace as of 0630, why would i since i did not have another pick unitil the next round, which i also made in a timely manner, the only pick anyone had to wait on me over was the one were posting about, i have made it a point not to hold anyone up. Thanks to stretch for pointing out that i did not know the trade had been accepted. Also i agree, that the time on the clock should be shortened for next offseason, this is the slowest draft i have been involved in out of the 3 leagues i'm in, and one of them does not use a draft utility. So Fast cat, no hard feelings, we'll settle it on the field.

The pick has been made and we can all go about our business bitching about the next person who has their draft utility turned off.[/quotec629677]

This was in reference to Texas not you. But I agree with Ravenhawk, turn your damn utility on!!!  [/quotec629677]

hey tool, i checked in at 0630 to see if i had a message, can't help it if i have job that i can't be here every waking minute, and why would i turn the utility on if i do not have a deal in place at the time...[/quotec629677]

Hey dumbass :smt021 Read the first part again. Is there anywhere I state for you to turn your utility on? As far as checking in again read the first part of the post, I state you did not confirm, and was asking how we deal with this. Before you start throwing names out there read the whole post asshole :smt097[/quotec629677]

So Fast cat, no hard feelings, we'll settle it on the field.[/quotec629677]

No hard feelings here now. Really was annoyed at being called a tool though. Again I was just asking on how we deal with traded picks, being you did not even confirm yet and they were calling for a pick. I agree that we'll settle it on the field :P

[quote4d92524="dberner30"]and to be clear i am happy with our pace..its just about right...[/quote4d92524]

2 hours shy of 11 days and you think we are at a good pace? From Sunday, yes we are at a good pace, but the first pick was the Sunday before. That equates to .7988 picks an hour on 16 hour draft days. That is slow I think. Guess I am just ticked cause I am going on vacation and will miss Late FA and training camp and the 1st game of preseason. Could someone send me the export each day from Friday until Sunday the 22nd? Thanks
