Hosting BOI,w as weird as we have both been contenders for the last few eyars but we never crossed paths so was my first in-depth look at them. A trio of dangerous receivers and a good system QB they run a lot of plays from 113 and put you in a real bind with the X going deep and lots of screens underneath, further complication things with a heavy dose of runs up the gut. We decided to play it safe and sit back with 2 deep and doubled the X some but I reckon we will give up some big screen passes and maybe runs as well. A very solid D from them without many weakness to exploit may give us fits as well.

Well Wagner beats our double coverage to move the sticks for BOI but they peeter out stickign with the run and short stuff for now. Disaster strikes on our first snap as QB Woodard goes out and we don't really have a viable backup. Fulton puts us on his back though and maligned G Penick gets us into the endzone with a series of big runs needing just one 3rd down conversion from the backup QB. Another dink drink for BOI and this time they get the big gain from midfield on a screen and another on 3rd and long to remain down 1 after a missed XP. We have our own plodding ugly drive but end up punting from their 40.

BOI rips off a 50 yard run but we hold inside the 10 ad BOI goes up 2. Fulton again brings us into FG range and we settle for 3 to retake a 1 point advantage. a 30 yard YAC play by Wagner has them threatening again and we ding QB Doser up but he is staying in for now and gift them a conversion with a penalty but we get the pressure influenced pick and return on the next snap setting us up already in socring range and we get our 6 aided as well by a conversion via penalty and some dinky yet efficient passing form the backup Dazey. BOI can't get anything downfield during their 2 minute drill and while I wish we woudl sit on t during our 1 minute cahnce we don't and throw a predictable pick but block the 58 yard attempt to bring us into the half.

Well I am very happy with the score all things considered. That said, we are giving up more than 5 ypc even without the 50 yarder and big gains passing as well even if the overall numbers look good. Hoping our OL and Fulton can add soem more to our lead and we can get a few big plays form our D to walk away victor.

Well 2 runs for a oss isn't going ot get it done as we go 3andO but BOI fumbles hte PR (haha it happens to others too sometimes) and we are set up at their 11. We thorw deep on 3rd and 2 from the 3 (???) so settle for 3 and a 11 point lead. A nice tackle on 3rd down wins us hte ball back but we go 3andO ourselves. BOI battles down the field converting 3 3rds just on their own side of the field but eventaully we stop them and they cut the lead down to 8 once more. A big gain for us is called back on a hold but rookei sensation Fence bails us out of 3rd and long and we at least manage to flip the field ot close out the 3rd.

Another failed completion on 3rd down is bailed out via penalty but we finally get a TFL on oen of their screens and they miss the long FG att. We get stranded at tehir 39 but at least a nice punt leaves them at their 3. BOI opts to punt on 4thand1 as they remain inside their own 30 with 7 minutes left. Just before our clockkilling starts at 4 mintues we take two negative plays so BOi takes over with 3 minutes left at thei own 1 after another great punt. To incompletes to Wagern being doubled to start and a failed completion on 4th makes it ballgame.

Well even with the injury the game played out about as we expected. Beginning ot start my D GP against these good teams with that kinda midnset, okay what are we really gonan try to accomplish here and what are we willing ot give up.

As stated before, we gave up more than expeted to the ground game but our own performance their led to it beign a draw other than the 1 big run for the though we managed a higher volume.

Both temas were close ot 5 YAC per catch which isn't overly surprising from them but n receiver had a truly good game as both QBs hovered around 50% completions and BOI in particular had lotsof empty yards with short passing.

The game liekly swung on their PR (woohoo! my turn) and their 2 missed FGs and the missed XP. Their pass pro did better than anyone else has against us but dorps, bad throws and general pressure led ot them going 1/10 on deep passes. Woodard will miss 4 games supposedly with a knee injury for the 3rd consecutive year with Crabtree still out 2 more weeks we will likely hold him out at least 2 more weeks but being at 2-2 we can't afford to risk losign many more games with our schedule.

BOIs 113 lean also really wore out our 2 remaining healthy Ss so it is looking ot be a rough couple weeks at least for us agsinst Alaska and Oregon no less.

Iowa City --

The Vampires had big names on the defensive side of the ball, but very few big performances to go with them thus far. This game saw QB Timothy Joslyn running for his life and making huge plays, but in the end were unable to crack the Detroit grindstone.

A close game from the start, Iowa City had just gone 3-and-out and forced a fumble from RB Marsh, but weren't quite able to fall on the ball. Marsh ended up taking the ball to the house on a catch and run a few plays later, one of his two TDs on the game. Iowa responded on their next drive which kicked off on a huge 40 yard connection to WR Rhodes, but after that the Vampires started really getting after QB Joslyn.

The Vampires ended the day with 6 sacks (one negated due to penalty), 2 blocked passes, 7 hurries and 11 QB knockdowns. QB Joslyn stood in the pocket and took some shots, but was still able to loose the ball before the defense could collect.

QB Mitchem came out swinging as the ground game found less success here than in recent weeks. Having TE Voinovich and TE Sims both healthy proved a huge boost to the receiving game and all three tight ends combined for 169 yards receiving on 20 targets. In the second half of the game, the sacks and knockdowns really showed their effects and Iowa wasn't able to sustain drives.

Detroit goes on to host Omaha next week in what will be a defense vs offense matchup for the ages.

Close game as I expected with multiple lead changes. The strip sack set us up and we tied the game with 3 minutes left but we couldn't stop Jimmy M as he showed off his wheels in the 4th picking up a few firsts by himself. If only someone could cover Grauer underneath.
Good luck the rest of the way.

GG Slim....

In a "see what you are made of" game, we came out hot and put together a complete game at Boston's expense.... We also welcomed Phillip Picton to the fold which made Porto smile from ear to ear. Nice to see recent addition Buddy Harden pick up two TD's... Did you hear that RH?? He's fitting in very nicely....

Wouldn't you know it... We travel to Shreveport next..... Fun Fun Fun!!

I like how you've managed to come into the game undefeated as well.....

Should be a prime time matchup.... Good Luck.

Not doing so bad since we lost our Franchise QB. Happy to see Harden fitting in, actually not really . . . see you next week.

GG, Dean. The Brawlers are always a tough match for The Pride. A tight game all the way through with few mistakes and few big plays. Good luck the rest of the way!

GG JJ Smitty - congrats.

That Britt Elliott character - I don`t like him  He`s bad news man! Bad news……

I should consider running more pass plays out of the shotgun next year...

The Kansas skill positions are a bit thin, which makes it difficult for my elite QB. My starting RB ended on negativ yards. Should perhaps have gone for Picton.

Anyone got a top 15/20 WR or TE on the the block?

This weeks newbee question.
The skill `Blitz pick-up` is that only against LBs and DBs or does the fx. RB also help out with pass rushers DT and DE.

GG Raven Hawk,

The Pride is tough as always. Only one turnover, which did not result in points. Speaking of turnovers, the Brawlers have not had a defensive turnover all year (four game sample)...not even a fumble?

After a four game road stretch to start the year, we welcome NOLA to Brooklyn. Good luck BGBob.

Still hangin' around the back-end of the Yankee,
Dean Gullberry
