Huge game hosting Denver who nipped us in week one, this is pretty much must win for us at 4-4 and some key losses to potential WC teams. We are healthy on O but still missing Alexander from the D. If we can avoid TOs though I have to like our chances even against what may be the most solid defense in the league.

Denver is methodical using scrambles before Warhurst breaks off 2 nice gains to get tehm to oru RZ and he adds another on 3rd to put them up 7. We start on oru 3 after a penalty and Denver sends 6 stuffing our run for a safety and 9 point lead. We get a quick stop thanks to a big sack. THey go big blitz 3 tiems in a row but both backup RBs slip through for big gains and get the TD. Another quick stop by our D is negated by penalty but we sto pthem again.

We have a wild star tot he drive overcomign 3 penalties and also being helped downfield by 2 persoal fouls on Denver to ge tto FG range but Woodard throws a pick in the face of another blitz. We push Denver back again with oru own pass rush. We get downfield but are stuffed on a 3rd adn 1 at their 27 and opt to go for it but are stuffed once more by S Asavamonchai. Our D holds once again and Crabtree gets 2 cat and runs downfield to set up a 1st and goal where he gest te TD with ease to have us up 5. Denver opens it up a bit in a 3 minute drill but still can't string together completions as we bring us into the half.

Well we are definitely moving hte ball with enarly 10 yards per play but are only up 5 thanks to the safety and INT. Our own D is also holding team to 4.3 ypp so not too shabby either even if I doubt it will last much longer.

Another stuff on 3rd and short for Denver's D (we gotta stop running on all of those against them) but yet again Brandon can't move the sticks. We overcome 2 sacks adn hit both possession man Sheldon and Crabtree a couple times before adding a FG to make i tan 8 point game ahlfway through the 3rd. More futility from Denver on O and our backup RB Robertson continues to shine in his limited role. Crabtree and Fence add some intermediate gains on catach adn runs to set up another first and goal and this tie we wexecute on pwoer form tehir 2 to go up 14 (missed XP) to close out the 3rd.

We get them a 1st via penalty but the offender makes up for it forcing and recovering a fumble to give us the ball at midfield, we come up short n a a3rd and 15 but still hit the FG to make it a 3 score game with 13 minutes left. Denver doesn't get past midfield until inside 4 mintues so that is ballgame.

Glad we got our revenge Baldy.

One of the est games we have had in awhile just total domination in all aspects an what I lovded was seeing how we could have miscues such as penalties and TOs but still just grind up field. Also fun to see our 2 backup RBs go 9 for 109 to taek some heat off of Fulton compared with Denver's Duran going 10 for -7.

Both teams were at about 5 YAC per catch but our number oen outperformed theirs on similar usage. Both teams were effective rushign the passer but Denver's secondary was nowhere to be found getting 0 breakups and just the one pick as we made hay in teh short and medium distances.

Potential trap gaem against El Paso next.

How do you lose to a 1-6 team?

13 penalties for 138 yards and 2 missed FG.

The fun continues...

GG Marven,

What an odd game, who would have thought we could hold Alaska, the 5th best scoring offense in the league to just 8 points? Oregon is just 2-8 since that beat down by Alaska in the 2052 wildcard game. Which also happens to be the last time we reached the playoffs. Even though we only won 10-8 this week, this win felt GOOD.

Our game plan was mostly focused on taking out the three receivers you use so well, in order to do that we had to be willing to let QB Marischen scramble and hope to get some hard hits on him. The guys did great vs the run overall, holding RB Washington to under 3 yards a clip on 14 attempts.

Alaska drove right down the field on their first two drives. We were fortunate to get a pick on our 2 yard line. Huge play for us. We were able to take off 9 minutes from the clock and reset field position after that. We really seemed to adjust after the Kodiak's first two possessions. Which only lead to three points.

Our red zone defense was great the 2 times you guys got down there. But man you guys have a big play offense and can get down there quick.

I was happy to see our qb throw a touchdown on 3rd and 5 from the 5. Big time play right there, our running game was great the first half, putting us in a good position.

I lost count how many times we started inside our own 5 yard line, 4 times was it? This game really could have got out of hand for us. We won the TOP battle which we feel is a must. But we were fortunate to not shoot ourselves in the foot too much, the one safety sucked and can easily deflate a team. Our guys held up.

I thought the 3rd down conversion with 6 minutes remaining was huge for us, we were able to run the clock down to under 2:30 which forced Alaska to press a little bit. But our defense was the reason we won the game and they sealed the deal with their 3rd pick of the day on a 3rd and 1 with 2 minutes left. We were able to run the clock out from there.

Good luck the rest of the season Alaska, I have a feeling we will need to score more then 10 points to win next time.

I was as shocked as you. A testimony to how bad we even were in the win was that our Punter was awarded POG. I think that is the first time I have ever seen that. He did a great job with his 11 punts  - managing to put 6 of them inside the 20.

Our running game did a decent job as well but we continue to lose players to injury so I don't anticipate a big run here.

Tucson was absolutely wrecked by Death Valley. It was a highly demoralizing loss, even with a losing season in full progress. One amusing factor though...A player on my roster has an injury related to tobacco use. That at least is worth a chuckle of amusement.

What am I doing wrong?

Can’t throw, can’t run(not a run team) and can’t defend run or passing :|

I had my most conservative gameplans this week and didn’t even manage to put up a decent fight.

Not too sure since I'm not an expert, but I probably wouldn't run out those rookies for significant play time while you have vets on the bench that are much better... your roster does look pretty stacked and your cohesion is pretty good so guessing it's your gameplanning? Do you put your game plan together from scratch? If so, I might go with the AI generated gameplan (with a few tweaks) to see what might work better.

We haven't actually played yet so I haven't looked at any of your game logs but that will change soon :)

Might also look at your depth charts.. not sure why Huntley is getting so many more carries than Carpenter. It does also seem like you might be over-targeting Van Pelt so try and get other guys involved more? I'd move around some of the guys on your defense-- for one I'd give CB Collins and FS Elliott more playing time, maybe even put Collins at FS. I might switch Brewer and Woodard on the charts too.

GG Aamalin.

Our first three runs were -2, -1 and -2 so it looked like it was going to be a long day. Graham was on the top of his game, however, so that took some pressure off the running game and it finally got going.

It was nice to have Malinsky back to share the load at running back. Not happy to see LB Barker get a severe wrist sprain and DE Carr strain his rotator cuff in his first game back from a previous injury.
