Post subject:  HON @ IWC(-1), KCY @ LAS(-2), and BAL @ ORE(-8)

Honolulu at Iowa City (-1) - I thought HON was going to win last week and I think they are still a very good team with good pieces, but they're going against an Iowa team that has taken some surprisingly good victories (OMA, DUR). Now, they've also lost (or drawn) against poorer competition (STL, NOS). DET got the better of IWC in week 4 and the key to it was being able to run the ball, but it looks like IWC's run defense has been better since. The IWC strength has always been their secondary though, and HON's rushing attack should be able to keep the ball out of QB Joslyn's hands but I could see a good chance for IWC if RB Gaiter's replacements (doesn't look like HON's GM has signed any new RBs during the midweek, so it's RB Boone and Woodard) aren't up to the task. 24-20 HON

Kansas City at Los Angeles (-2) -- KCY has been playing some pretty tough football their last few games and the fact that the line is only -2 reflects that improvement. The problem here is that LAS is a team that runs a ton and uses that to set up their extremely efficient passing offense. This last week against DET, KCY got massacred on the ground and I don't see that changing vs LAS. On the flip side, LAS has a pretty mediocre defensive unit at all three levels despite having talented players and I think KCY has a much better offense than their first half of the season would indicate. I expect a high scoring affair with a ton of yards both on the ground and in the air, 40-34 LAS.

Baltimore at Oregon (-8) - I'm not super familiar with these teams, but I think the spread is way too high for a team that is starting a career backup (traded from DET!). BAL is looking like a team that has checked out of this season, starting 3 different QBs and 3 different RBs through 11 weeks and just overhauled their offensive line, but they somehow beat DUR, tied OMA, and probably should've won against IWC and SAN. BAL had their best showing on the ground against OMA and, whether or not that was because OMA gameplanned to beat an offense that historically aired it out, it looks to be something ORE should be aware of. I think this will be a surprisingly close game and if BAL runs QB Amadro out there, they could well get the win. 24-17 ORE

Thanks! I already look through a lot of the other games around the league, but this gives me a reason to keep better notes (I want to be able to write more player specific notes eventually). I still don't really look at the Western Conference teams unless they're on my schedule, but if I can build up more institutional knowledge on the Eastern Conf teams, maybe I'll have a little bit more room to look.

If you want to put them in the news section so everyone can check them out.

here's some examples of others you have posted in news for the league;

I might do that for my next "Picks against the spread" write up. Everybody loves a good degenerate gambler's rant...

Hopefully I don't go 0/3 again this week...
