Well that sums up my season. Everything is going well then it all comes off the tracks.
Lost on a 75 yard pass play with under 2 minutes to go. The comeback engine wins again with Tennessee scoring 22 points in the 4th quarter to beat us by 5.

GG, Aamalin. Go go get another ring!

Detroit, MI -- It was a calm sunny day at La-Z-Boy Stadium, but the first playoff game since 2050 had the city buzzing. While 51 of the faces are different, TE Rico Voinovich remembers the post season feeling. "I know I had to step up and be a leader today. This is a first time for a bunch of the younger guys. It's hard to get to this point and you can't think about next time-- every game could be the last."

C Tim Strickland cost IWC their first points as a short pass from QB Timothy Joslyn to WR Brenden Linkous led to a 50-yard catch and run but was called back for offensive holding. The Vampires took advantage with a long pass to WR Von Wyss setting up a Greg Manns 35-yard field goal. Then the pass rush got home on Iowa City's next possession and LT O.J. Butler fumbled his assignments as LB Lionel McConnell took a lost ball from QB Joslyn to the house. The Soldiers struggled into the second quarter as a RB Antonio Marsh stiff armed DE Scottie Buchanan en route to a 32 yard touchdown run.

It seemed as though the costly penalty and turnover had shut the door on the Soldiers, but RB Brant Jackson quieted the crowd with a 25 yard catch and run, capping off a 75-yard drive and putting the Soldiers on the board. Both teams bunkered down for the long game, but it would be IWC finding the next points just before the half off the back of a deep connection to TE Bob Jerome.

After the break, both defenses took over the game. An incredibly uneventful stretch into the fourth quarter saw the next 12 possessions from both teams resulting in punts. The monotony was broken in the middle by ILB Gus Braden blocking one of those punts for a TD, but the offenses for both sides were dismal until QB Mitchem found TE Vance for 29 yards and WR Von Wyss breaking the plane in for another score. With 1 minute to go, QB Joslyn shook off the punishment he'd been getting all game long and let the ball loose, finding WR Stan Garcia near the end zone for his first catch of the game.

With the first possession of the overtime, a deep pass to WR Rob Writt brought K Greg Manns well into his range and a 47-yard FG locked the victory in.

"We held in the end, " DE Riley Gray said after the game. "I was a rookie then, but I could see some of the same cracks this game. To win in this league, you have to put everything on the table and we did that today. The Soldiers did that today. It was a great game."

Ouch!! I watched this whole game thinking Shreveport had it in the bag. We just couldn't seem to string any plays together and they were taking big chunks on offense.... Then something happened and they stalled out a bit...... leaving just enough of a window for us to sneak back into the game. Then, when they came down and kicked the FG to go ahead I thought, "Well, that's it, it was a good season." Then, BAM!! like an uppercut to the balls, Hitchcock takes it to the house and RH was left gaping at his computer...... Wait.. Here it is again:

4-7-TEN08 (4Q: 01:50) Howard Starks attempted a 25 yard field goal and succeeded. Shreveport 26, Tennessee 24

(4Q: 01:43) Howard Starks kicked off 69 yards from the SHR35. Touchback.

1-10-TEN25 (4Q: 01:43) Alex Porto pass completed to WR Kendrick Hitchcock for 75 yards and a TOUCHDOWN! Hitchcock gained 72 yards after the catch. The quarterback threw away from the double coverage. Tennessee 30, Shreveport 26

(4Q: 01:43) Extra point by Wendell Page was good. Tennessee 31, Shreveport 26

Sorry I couldn't help myself.......

Now mind you, at this point I was still fearing the inevitable last minute Shreveport dagger, and they almost pulled it off...... Let's see that again shall we:

3-7-TEN23 (4Q: 00:31) Archie Blanchard pass completed to WR Geoff Warren for 6 yards. Tackled by S Erick Tyree, assisted by DT Dwight Castillo.

Shreveport called a time out.

4-1-TEN17 (4Q: 00:21) Archie Blanchard pass completed to WR Geoff Warren for 3 yards. Tackled by OLB Enrique O'Reilley.

Final Score: Tennessee Militia 31, Shreveport Pride 26

And.... exhale.... Fist pump!!! Yes!!!

No last minute throw INTO the endzone RH? Your coaches have some splaining to do....

Next up.... Oh damn.... Well, we had a good season.... :P

I kind of envisioned this one as Tennessee having the sidelines locked down and Blanchard opting to get the first down, then spike the ball. I also envision Enrique O'Reilley laying on top of Geoff Warren, not allowing him to get up and not allowing the ref to set the ball.

21 seconds left and a 3 yard pass . . . they should have been able to spike it and get 1 if not 2 shots at the endzone.

I assume you have Omaha next.

Yep Omaha next.

I didn’t understand the last seconds winding down either, but your explanation makes sense. As always, much respect for your team and how you compete year after year. We got super lucky in this one.

GG texas

I think your team was a lot better than it showed, just penalties really never let you guys show that. for Boise, the team kinda looked awake, which for sure is timely. Hoping its a sign for the playoffs
