We gave the rook the start vs STL as we are pretty sure we will need to win vs PHI next week anyways. Didn't tweak the O GP much either as STL has some real space eaters on that DL so we will see what he has got for sure. D will be Spy heavy and hopefully get some TOs as I am pretty sure the rook will not be <1% INT rate like Mitchem.

STL gets a couple gains from the backfield but then we get them 3andO passing with a 3rd down spy doing the trick on a scramble. HOlzer runs it all the way to the orange zone and then SHerman hits Fence deep in stride for a first pas attempt TD. STL gets across midfield with a nice mix but take a personal foul and we take ove at our 7. Crabtree beats a double ot get us out and then hauls in a deep ball for 55 but it is called back on a hold, no problem we grind it out to midfield and SHerman scrambles on 3rd to convert and Crabtree grabs the 3rd down TD from the 19.

EGE ALmeida gets dinged up but we pick Hoyner on the next play, grind out a few and then hit TE Boon on a short pass which he takes to the house. STL goes downfield on 3rd and 2 and hits TE Fisk for 38 and he grabs the TD a few plays later. Sherman goes thrice to Fence downfield but cant connect. STL get s anice return and some chunks running before hitting WR West over the double to set up 1st and goal and make it a 1 score game. Craabtree convers a tough 3rd and we get a RB screen chunk but Sherman can't complete passes in teh RZ, he gets a 2nd chance due to a defensive penalty and while we get a conversion Sherman once more tried Fence 3 tiems in a row to no avail. STL moves it some during the 1 minute drill but a bad hold derails the long FG attempt.

Both teams are giving up big yards on the ground but I still think TOs may threaten our advantage.

SHerman rips off a 54 yard scramble and Crabtree grabs the 3rd down TD inside the 10. SL grinds nad dinks their way to our 2 usign the backs and TEs exclusively and it is a 10 point game once more. We can't do much as the Sherman to Fence connection continues to frustrate a hold puts STL in poor down adn distance and we again pick Joyner as he targets a doubled West on 3rd. We can't pound it in from the 4 though and settle for 3 for a 13 point lead to start the 4th.

A sack gets STL into another 3rd and forever adn they take the checkdown, Sherman misses on another deep shot to Fence but hits Sigrest on teh next one and then Hicks on the next 3rd down and we get a coupel familiars as we are up to 67 plays run so end up lucky to get a FG in there. We tacle the short stuff and take over at our 5 and that is pretty much ballgame.

We won the TO battle despite the rook as well as dominating 3rd down.

We are pretty banged up at a bad time in the season for that with WR Fence. 2 OL, 2 EDGE and 1 CB all dinged up and one of our big 3 guys on teh DL straight up done until the Bowl week.

If LVS beats HOn and we beat PHI we actually get the bye or we could essentialy use this week to rest and take the 6 seed but then would be facing PHI or LVS which are two matchups we'd prefer to avoid. Will have to stew on those options...

I called this earlier in the season. We're done beating anyone this season. We lose next week at HON and we are one-and-done as a Wild Card team.

The writing has been on the wall since Week 3 for us.

Quite a few teams with +100 or more, some very good teams won't be making the CCs this year I think.
