Turnovers, pick-6, and a safety all adds up to the big L. Hate dropping the first game of the season it doesn't bode well.

Good Luck till next time.

Full treatment to kick the season off right vs rival Philly. We've had some wild ones hoping maybe this year we can finally handle their O a bit better due to aging as I looked through our last 4 matchups and nothing we have done has really worked all that well. We opted to forego the blitz and play quite a bit of Cloud with doubles onto the 2nd guy but their running game, TE McKenzie and even scrambles may make us regret that choice.

70 yards in 4 plays to open things for us and Holzer drives it into the endzone. Penalties get PHI into a 3rd and logn and we tackle McKenzie way short with Randle leavin gthe game (think he is OL). We take over on their sideof the field and hit seldom used athlete WR Blalock deep on 3rd and 5 on what must have been a timing route for 40 and Sigrest hauls in the backside slant at the goalline for another TD. FR on the KR by PHI so we get another 1st and goal and Sherman scramlbes it in (XP blocked). OUr run D pushes PHI back and they drop the 3rd and long pass and another nice PR means we take over at their 40. Rookie RB Banks gets a dime carry and takes advantage breakign free for the score from 37 yards out. Passing game wakes up for PHI and they get 3 nice gains from their trio of receivers but take a sack in FG range and another 3rd down drop leads to a FG. But no we roughed up the K so they get the TD on teh next run.

A nice KR and a couple intermediate gains with some nice power running get us to their 24 but then we cough it up and PHI takes over. Our best ILB young Hampton leaves the field and then we get another strip sack which PHI recovers kncking TE McKenzie out of the game as well and they can't complete the 3rd and long despite holding. 3andO for PHI's D. PHI can't move it either and another poor punt has us at midifield once more. We can't take advantage though and have to boom it into the endzone. WR ROdriguez moves the chains twice but then PHI eats another sack and drop a deep shot to the young man Nye leading to a fialed complete on 3rd and very long. We can't break a tackle running or on short passes, PHI takes another sack and we win another 3rd down with PHi now 1/8 there. We are conservative on the first part of the 2M drill but then open it up and find Crabtree twice and Sherman throws a pick after we get jsut into FG range. We pick Sullivan as he tries to get something quick but the gun sounsd before it causes any damage.

Great so far, run game has slowed down as usual but D looks better than ever.

Another sack taken by PHI and a apenalty but we bail them ou with a roughing call in teh secondary, Sullivan uses hsi legs to battle back from a holding call but they get stranded at the 40 and kick it away pinning us at our 4. HOlzer has fresh legs now though and rips off 2 chain moving gains and we grind our way down to a FG to make it 23 point lead. PHI is dinking thei way across midfield but get stranded once more in the orange zone. The backs get involved in teh passing game for a couple nice gains and Sigrest grabs anotherhis 3rd 20 yarder at the X to have us jsut ouside the RZ to end the 3rd.

And we execute there to pretty much put it away with bakcup Erickson coming in for PHI. OF course we lose our C during garbage time

Before the backups came in we held PHI to 2/12 on 3rd and 3 ypa eating 5 sacks, while we are clsoe to 200 rushing and over 8 ypa in the air.

Week 1 can be wonky for sure but very happy with how this game turned out. Even the injuries don't look to be too serious for us.

GG Cheesehead Craig/Santa Cruz.
For whatever reason, continuing from last year, we struggle to run the ball now. Add to that the fact we couldn't stop your running game to save our life and this was an absolute fiasco. Back to the drawing board for us to see if we can find a way to bring things around.

Gg Johnny,
We had so much go right this game. I'm as surprised as you are.

Boston jumped to a 21 point lead and that was pretty much it. Score wasn't as close as it looked. My QB showed me his strong showing in the pre-season was a mirage going 14-41 with a pick. My 99 accuracy kicker missed 2 FGs under 50 yards.

Not the best start, especially playing at home. Good game Slim!

gg KK,

Great performance from Gault and not sure how he didn't pick up the MVP - nice competitive close game to start with - good luck the rest of the way
