Zen deservs a full writeup so here it goes...

Not sure what has happened to DETs defense since I last checked but they seem to be going with the PHI model but then again our Offense is perfectly fine at stopping themselves with turnovers and general incompetence. On D we are gonna focus on stopping the run and hope Malley doesn't burn us deep or with big YAC chunks, mostly dropping 8 since no way we are getting through that OL anyways.

DET hits 3 passes in a row to get to the orange zone quickly and then opts to go for it on 4th and 1 and converts but finds themselves with another shortly thereafter and misses the FG attempt. Nice first down running helps us move the sticks 4 times as we move into the red zone and Johnstone hits a couple short passes to have us up 7. DET moves the chains a couple times with dust and dinks but misses a deep shot play to McCloskey to end the 1st quarter.

Disco scrambles for another conversion and our stud NT leaves the game which could be very problematic. However an intentional grounding call pushes them out of the RZ and then they throw a pick on 3rd and forever. But we cough up a short reception and they recover to have 1st and 10 in the RZ once more. Our D holds up through 5 downs and RB Castillo drops the would be TD pass on 3rd and they go for it from our 3 and we tackle Castillo with ease so they come away empty. X man Sigrest bails us out on 3rd from our own 3 yard line with a nice chunk and maligned vet Fence adds on another YAC chunk to get us across midfield. RB Banks rips off 40 on the ground and it's another pitch and catch short TD pass. DET fails on another deep shot but RB Castillo rips off a chunk for them on PA right before the 2M mark. They get another nice gain for a draw but once more can't connect downfield and are running out of time in the orange zone when we get the strip sack to pretty much end the half.

Gotta love it 14-0 as DET should have 6 points at least but the aggression has worked against them so far. Our passing game with low volume looks actually quite good at 8/10 for 111 and 7 first downs.

A nice KR and one intermediate gain get us across midfield but then we cough it up on a run once we get into the secondary and DET recovers. But DET is just snakebit as once more right after they get a TO they also cough it up so we take over again. Consecutive penalties push us backwards and we nearly work our way back form 25 yards out but then hahve a coupel more negative plays and boot it into the endzone. DET goes backwards on their 3 downs of offense. We get to oru own 4th and 1 at their 36 and go for it but get stood up in teh run game. DET can't budge the ball though and we battle our way to 3 fresh sets of downs fro mour own end before going pass happy at midfield and kickig itaway but get the clock down to 17 minutes left. A hold negates a DET conversion and they miss on another deep shot and a poor punt sets us up near FG range.

We move into FG range to start the 4th but shank the 39 yard FG on a bad hold. Sacks and holds push DET into a 3rd and 29 after getting one nice chunk so even the deep completion isn't enough and they are forced to kick it away. We start at our own 6 and DEt sends 7 on a 3rd and medium and Fence grabs it but somehow is tackled anyways 1 yard shy of the sticks so DEt takes over with more than 8 minutes left. DET was gona go for it facing 4th adn 3 but their 8th penalty makes it 4th adn 8 so they punt it away and we take over at our 4 in clock killing mode with 6 minutes left. OUr 3rd down RB is taking the snaps for some reason and we nearly get pushed back for a safety between his lack of ability and familiars so DET takes over down 14 at our 41. And they are still running the ball for some reason and even op t to go for a 50 yard FG which is missed so that's ballgame and we even preserve the shutout through garbage time.

DET kinda beat themselves with the aggression early and then none late. But props to our D as a shutout is a shutout and QB Johnstone played a clean, efficient game enjoying excellent pass pro.

NT Stone is out with a concussion for what is likely our season which is a blow but we do have some depth there even if not at the same talent level. Due ot our loss to ATL getting the 1 seed means we can't slip up and MIA is lurking close as well in the division if we drop oru game vs them next week.
