I'm very disappointed with my team right now - Chicago is a damn good team, but the offense stunk! Orlando Winters led all backs and receivers with 60 yds and he's a rookie, drafted in the 5th round... none of the veterans bothered to turn in an effort! Gah! :x

1-10-LVS47 (01:29) LVS 1 Olsen pass was intercepted by HBE 31 Unknow at the HBE06. The interception was returned 94 yards for a touchdown! Extra point by HBE 14 Davis was good.

The Rounders tried out the new Hail Mary play where everyone is sent down field. The only problem was that it was picked and returned easily for the TD. The officials were laughing so hard, they didn't bother to throw the flag for ineligible men downfield.

And take [b784edec]this[/b784edec] Taco:

[quote784edec]1Q: 14:43 NED - Daniel Green 96 kickoff return.
[/quote784edec]

[quote784edec="Taco"]
Special Teams: You've got a love a punter named Brock Lightfoot. Lightfoot is expected to be adequate, as is kicker Joe Lynch. However, the team doesn't have anyone for returning punts or kickoffs. Grade: C [/quote784edec]

Wow - while I was expecting to lose sooner or later (actually, far sooner than this), I was not expecting it to come as a 31-14 thrashing. I've not received a drubbing like that in quite a while. Good game, FrogMan!

My defense didn't do diddley squat all day - no sacks, no turnovers, not even a single defended pass! On top of that we surrendered 169 rushing yards - a shameful number from what had been an excellent run-stopping unit. Terrible terrible effort.

Of course, the coach needs to feel some heat here, as he apparently never got the memo about the game plan. As the gentle reader may have noticed, I've built Tucson to be something of a running team. But here's how our coach decided to start the game:

[code020e1bf] 1-10-TUC20 (15:00) TUC 4 Hogan pass was intercepted by SAC 45 Gonzales at the TUC45.
The interception was returned 45 yards for a touchdown! Extra point by SAC 1 Eastman was good.
Score: Sacramento 7, Tucson 0.[/code020e1bf]

"Okay," one might say, "Unlucky start. Better get back to the game plan of running the ball." So what does the coach do?

[code020e1bf] SAC 1 Eastman kicked off 75 yards from the SAC30. Touchback.
Possession to Tucson.
1-10-TUC20 (14:51) TUC 4 Hogan pass was overthrown, intended for 81 Markey.
2-10-TUC20 (14:39) TUC 4 Hogan pass completed to 22 Bradley for 12 yards.
Tackled by SAC 90 Buehler, assisted by SAC 98 Spalding.
1-10-TUC32 (14:18) TUC 4 Hogan pass completed to 80 Higginbotham for 12 yards.
Tackled by SAC 98 Spalding, assisted by SAC 94 Hooten.
1-10-TUC44 (13:33) TUC 4 Hogan pass fell incomplete, intended for 81 Markey.
SAC 92 Lamontagne hurried the quarterback into a bad throw.
2-10-TUC44 (13:21) TUC 4 Hogan sacked by SAC 99 Beckman for a loss of 11 yards.
Sack allowed by TUC 53 Rosenberger.
3-21-TUC33 (12:40) TUC 42 Holliday ran around right end for 23 yards.
Tackled by SAC 35 McCaleb, assisted by SAC 24 Stine.
Key block delivered by TUC 71 Franck.
1-10-SAC44 (11:57) TUC 4 Hogan pass completed to 22 Bradley for 12 yards (OOB).
Tackled by SAC 45 Gonzales.
1-10-SAC32 (11:09) TUC 4 Hogan pass fell incomplete, intended for 86 Ramirez.
SAC 92 Lamontagne hurried the quarterback into a bad throw.
2-10-SAC32 (11:00) TUC 4 Hogan sacked by SAC 95 Camargo for a loss of 9 yards.
Sack allowed by TUC 71 Franck.
3-19-SAC41 (10:26) Penalty: TUC - False Start.
3-24-SAC46 (10:17) TUC 4 Hogan pass completed to 42 Holliday for 4 yards (OOB).
Tackled by SAC 45 Gonzales, assisted by SAC 35 McCaleb.
4-20-SAC42 (09:30) TUC 14 Contois punted 42 yards from the SAC42. Touchback.[/code020e1bf]

10 of our first 11 plays were passes? The very first of which was an interception returned 45 yards for a touchdown, thankyouverymuch. That was then followed by two hurried incompletions and two sacks. Nice play calling, coach.

Everybody, coach included, is going to be running windsprints this week. :)

It's going to be a long couple of weeks without all-pro QB Oberg.

My defense did well all day, but you killed me with that incredible drive to get victory.

it was a good game yeah, a bit unexpected from my boys I must say. Even more surprised that we got so much running going. We were lucky to get a lead early and we killed the clock by running after that...

And as you said, our d-line manhandled your o-line. 3 sacks in all, plus 4 hurries from Rick Lamontagne, not bad...

The Football Gods have exacted their revenge for your defeat of Their Chosen Team. Let that be a lesson to the rest of you!

;)

Sorry 'bout your players FM. I noticed the Buehler injury while watching the game, but didn't see Lambrecht's. Bummer.

There are ass kickin' and there are ASS KICKIN'. I got an in-game email message from Miriam AND Webster asking to put the boxscore from my game in the dictionary under ASS KICKIN'.

Here are some highlights:

First down: Long Beach 6, Santa Cruz 20
Rushing Yards: Long Beach 50, Santa Cruz 104
Pass Yards: Long Beach 94, Santa Cruz 239
Time of Possession: Long Beach 22:57, Santa Cruz 37:03

Oh, yeah. That's an ass kickin'.

7-6, what a win! But with Ernest Lorenzo out it's time to see what the youngster Dustin Hayes can do for us against a tough Boise team...
