I forgot to sign an extra CB before the mid-week stage, and I only have 6 DBs on my roster healthy enough to play. The problem is if I sign another one now, the AI will make adjustments and I don't want that. (They cut Jeeber's 1st round pick!) Is there anything I can do?

Here's what I would do:

-Sign a DB (either CB or S)
-Cut one player if you already have 53
-Activate only 45 players, making sure you've still filled all positions on all depth charts.

That way, you should have a valid roster when game time comes around.

If you activate someone listed as OUT they will count in the 7 but not play

Just make sure they don't show up on the depth charts.

I don't suppose this applies to QB's.

I have to have 3 listed on the depth chart to avoid AI manipulation, correct?

That is correct.

Do I ignore the messages telling me that the AI will do something drastic?

I have made an offer to an FA and made a conditional cut to accomodate the new player but I still receive these messages.

Do I just submit it and hope for the best?

Yeah, if the roster is full before the game is simmed then it should go through with no changes

I'm not sure what your exact situation is, but remember that if you have a quarterback that is "Out" you can still place him in the #3 slot on the depth chart and it will still be valid...

Wouldn't you get the "you have a player too injured to compete" error and then the AI would step in to correct it?

not with the qb, that adjustment was made in a recent patch that he can be stashed in the #3 slot.

Well that sucks! I got what Timmy stated. I thought I had the most recent version. Oh well, I guess the guy I cut for no reason was cuttable, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to make the decision.

Can someone post the specifics on the update as I thought I had the most recent version. I was not able to submit a QB listed as "Out" in the depth chart.

If you're on 5.1d then an "Out" QB should be fine in the third QB slot...

Now it let's me pick him from the drop down list!?

I received exactly the message Timmy stated earlier and he was not available to select from the list. I even verified that he was activated.

Now that I have a 4th QB, he is available in the drop down list and I don't receive an error message.

The only thing that has changed is that I added a FA QB to the roster.

Strange, very strange.

are you sure you were looking for the injured QB in the 3rd slot and not the 2nd?

yes, I had tried it several times and double checked for any and all PEBKAC issues...still received the exact message Timmy quoted earlier.

Doesn't matter at this point, the transaction has been completed. I am glad for the information you provided as I now know it works. Hopefully I won't have this problem again, but if I do, I know the solution is available.
