Two weeks into the pre-season, every team has now played one game.
It's time to have a look at the significant injuries that have already occured.

Some major injuries already :

[b34686b7]John Deacon[/b34686b7], DT, [u34686b7]Denver [/u34686b7]- out 11 weeks with torn patellar tendon - had a chance at starting, more likely top d-lineman backup

[b34686b7]Terrell Keith[/b34686b7], RB, [u34686b7]El Paso [/u34686b7]- out 12 weeks with high ankle sprain - El Paso's 4rd round choice this past draft, was supposed to be the backup for Stephen Metz

[b34686b7]Chris Carpenter[/b34686b7], DE, [u34686b7]Fargo [/u34686b7]- out 8 wks with strained abductor muscle - was supposed to start on the right side, not many other options available to the Boxcars right now

[b34686b7]Nathan Unknow[/b34686b7], CB, [u34686b7]HB Capitalists [/u34686b7]- out 19 weeks with ruptured elbow tendon, will likely miss all the regular season. The best CB in the league, the injury prone player will miss most of the season for the 2nd consecutive year. He only started 8 games for the Capitalist last year.

[b34686b7]Jerry Her[/b34686b7], DT, [u34686b7]Long Beach [/u34686b7]- out 7 weeks with strained abductor muscle - is expected to start this season for the Calibiri.

[b34686b7]Nicolas Thrash[/b34686b7], CB, [u34686b7]Portland [/u34686b7]- out 16 weeks with ACL damage to the knee - top CB and punt returner for the defending champions, the Ice secondary takes a big hit...

[b34686b7]David To[/b34686b7], T, [u34686b7]Sacramento [/u34686b7]- out 2 months with a broken arm - a top 5 OT and 16 game starter for the Dragons last season, his absence is expected to hurt the Dragon's running game in the first few games of the season.

[b34686b7]Hassan Rea[/b34686b7], OLB, [u34686b7]Tampa Bay [/u34686b7]- out for the season with a compound leg fracture - A backup player, Rea's injury should not impact the Torpedoes too much, as their linebacking squad is relatively deep.

Get well wishes to all those players.
Hope you enjoyed this chronicle.

Update after preseason week 3.

Five new long-term injuries, one of them to a top prospect in the league. Here are the latest injuries :

[b7e1514e]Sebastian Martinez[/b7e1514e], FS, [u7e1514e]Cleveland [/u7e1514e]- out for the season with a ruptured aAchilles tendon - would have likely been 3rd on the safety depth chart or nickel/dime back

[b7e1514e]Ron Nazario[/b7e1514e], DT, [u7e1514e]Denver [/u7e1514e]- done for the season after back surgery - the second backup D-lineman to suffer a long injury in as many weeks for the Dynomite. Will affect d-line depth.

[b7e1514e]George Gregory[/b7e1514e], CB, [u7e1514e]Fargo [/u7e1514e]- out 4 weeks with a strained foot ligament - projected as a starter, he might miss the first couple of games of the season.

[b7e1514e]Chad Oroumieh[/b7e1514e], LT, [u7e1514e]Hartford [/u7e1514e]- out for the season after knee surgery - The #2 overall pick in the 2004 draft goes down to an ACL injury and will miss the whole 2004 season, and most likely some of 2005 as well. This is a big blow to the Attack's O-line.

[b7e1514e]Arlen Gallegos[/b7e1514e], CB, [u7e1514e]Hartford [/u7e1514e]- out 4 weeks with a strained Achilles tendon - Another injury for the Attack, Gallegos will probably miss the start of the regular season in what is already a pretty weak secondary unit.

[b7e1514e]Robby Hollander[/b7e1514e], ILB, [u7e1514e]Memphis [/u7e1514e]- out for the season with MCL damage to the knee - 2nd on the Express last season with 106 tackles, the loss of this talented linebacker will destabilize the team's defense.

[b7e1514e]Michael Bishop[/b7e1514e], LT, [u7e1514e]Sacramento [/u7e1514e]- out for the season after ACL knee surgery - Bishop was battling for a starting job this pre-season. After the loss of To last week, the Dragon's O-line is in trouble right now.

This one is a killer. I signed as a free agent from Baltimore him to a three-year, $20 million contract. Hopefully, he can play in week 12-13 for the final playoff push. . .

Update after preseason week 4. Without any further ado, here are this week's significant injuries :

[b1e853a6]Joseph Dyer[/b1e853a6], CB, [u1e853a6]Anchorage [/u1e853a6]- out 7 weeks with a broken jaw - started all 16 games for the Snow Leopards in 2003. He will miss the first few games this season.

[b1e853a6]Isaac Roper[/b1e853a6], ILB, [u1e853a6]El Paso [/u1e853a6]- out 5 weeks with a broken clavicle- Anchor of the Rockets linebacker corps, Roper led the Rockets in tackling last season with 106 tackles. He will miss the start of the regular season.

[b1e853a6]Les Stuart[/b1e853a6], CB, [u1e853a6]Long Beach [/u1e853a6]- broken ankle, out 6 weeks
[b1e853a6]Jerry Her[/b1e853a6], DT, [u1e853a6]Long Beach [/u1e853a6]- out 5 weeks, strained adductor muscle
The injury bug continues to bite the Calibiri as two more players go down. Jerry Her was the starting NT last year, while Stuart was fighting for a roster spot as backup / special team player.

[b1e853a6]Cleveland Coon[/b1e853a6], WR, [u1e853a6]New Orleans [/u1e853a6]- out 5 weeks, strained adductor muscle - possibly the most dangerous player on the Breaker's roster, he will miss the first month of the season.

All in all, a relatively injury-free week with no major injuries. Let's hope next week will be the same.

Final preseason update.

[b509b865]Adam Bedwell[/b509b865], C, [u509b865]Arizona [/u509b865]- out 40 weeks after reconstructive knee surgery - the best player on the Outlaws offensive line is out for the season. With no salary cap room available, Arizona management is scrambling for solutions...

[b509b865]William Hertz[/b509b865], WR, [u509b865]Atlantic City [/u509b865]- out with strained patellar tendon - starting flanker for the Phantoms, Hertz hurts and will miss the opening game of the season. He is however expected to be back by week 2 or 3.

[b509b865]Jason Edwards[/b509b865], DE, [u509b865]Cleveland [/u509b865]- out 4 to 5 months after a high ankle sprain - Cleveland loses their starting left defensive end and defensive leader.

[b509b865]Melvin Beamon[/b509b865], DT, [u509b865]Denver [/u509b865]- out 7 weeks with a strained elbow tendon - yet another defensive tackle bites the dust in Denver ! Beamon is the 3rd DT to be seriously injured this preseason. Slotted to start at RDT, Beamon will miss at least a month. Is it time to switch to a 3-4 defense ?

[b509b865]Mark Wilk[/b509b865], OLB, [u509b865]Denver [/u509b865]- strained adductor muscle, out - expected to start at one of the linebacker spots, Wilk will miss the first few games of this season. Talks of switching to a 3-4 defense are now dead in Denver...

[b509b865]Scott Flowers[/b509b865], DE, [u509b865]Detroit [/u509b865]- diagnosed with a degenerative hip condition, out for the season - The first pick in the CFL draft history will miss his rookie season. Flowers was not expected to have such a huge impact this season, but he should play a big part in the future of the Detroit franchise. The future has just taken a huge hit !

[b509b865]Michael Thibeaut[/b509b865], ILB, [u509b865]Detroit [/u509b865]- out 5 weeks with a strained patellar tendon - Expected to start at linebacker, Thibeaut will likely miss the first month of the season. With the loss of this year 1st draft pick and last year defensive rookie of the year, the Vampires defense is in for another long season...

[b509b865]Joel Cheeks[/b509b865], OT, [u509b865]Fargo [/u509b865]- hyperextended elbow, full strength in 3 weeks - one of the top linemen in the league, Cheeks will miss the first game against division rival Tulsa.

[b509b865]James Caines[/b509b865], C, [u509b865]Las Vegas [/u509b865]- hyperextended knee, full strength in 3 weeks - a pro bowler in 2003, Caines will miss the season opener against division rival Tucson.

[b509b865]Daniel Braddy[/b509b865], OT, [u509b865]Shreveport [/u509b865]- out 4 weeks with a separated shoulder - one of the best offensive lines in the country loses one of its anchor, at least for the first couple of games of the season.

[b509b865]Andrew Neuman[/b509b865], LB, [u509b865]Tucson [/u509b865]- out 4 weeks with a pulled calf muscle - Neuman, a 14 yr veteran, is yet another player that will miss the start of the season.

This concludes our preseason injury watch. This preseason has been a deadly one, with many (at least 10 by my count) season ending injuries to top players and prospects.
