I see Rains is still on the block.

It's hard to tout him as a top 5 guard when he was cut from Vegas, experienced a huge boom, was picked up as a FA, and has been on the trading block ever since.

Isn't he the poster child for 'numbers don't always make the player'?

Numbers dont lie, he has been playing LG the past year and a half, so not great #'s but top notch guy. The only reason he has been on the block this and last season is because we are rebuilding and do not really need an 11yr vet to do that. I am sorry you gave up a guy who is better than anyone on your entire line :P

...up until the 3rd play of the game when his 0 endurance and a stiff breeze puts him on his arse.

Actually, there's 3 linemen on my squad that I would take over Rains in a heartbeat - Baker, Vince, & Twisp.

In all reality, I inherited Rains who was like a 7th year 30-something of 30-something with mediocre skills and he got cut. If I had room for him, I might have enjoyed his boom but he was what he was and got replaced. The light must have turned on for the guy when he left but the chemical encouragement didn't do anything for his endurance.

I can't honestly say I know what his performance has been, but I don't hear his name called often except for on the trade block. His ratings sound good but what is that worth? Hopefully a second or third rounder!
