The 1-1 pick is in the books. Took the QB. Really tough call though. The OLB, S, and 2 OGs are real studs.

wow Santa Cruz comes hard and grabs both of the defensive studs. Looks instant defense for them.

I have one pick in this entire draft, and it's the fifth round. This is going to be hard to resist.

And for the 3rd consecutive year, a Great Lake team takes a QB at #1.

The Great Lakes could be a monster division in a couple of years.

I'll go out on a limb and predict that Cleveland selects a QB with 1.01 in 2011! :D

I hear you. I don't pick until 4.28, and after that I have two fifths and a seventh.

First real surprise as New Orleans goes for WR Ryan Clark with the fifth pick. Both Doug and I had him going to Chicago at #9 in our mock drafts.

And he would have gone there. Sadly NOS pulls the shocker and snags him.....

volatility of 96 on that guard Santa Cruz took. I hope he busts hard.

He probably will  Debated hard on him or one of the QB's and could not let him pass. Hope he pans out.

Considering that this draft (unlike nearly every other CFL draft) actually has a bit of depth at WR, I'm a bit surprised Clark went at #5. He's the best of the crop, for sure, but he doesn't strike me as being a #5-overall-type of good.

Going at 9-10 also struck me as about right.

So if he was a 9 or 10 going at #5, how is that a reach compared to when WR's normally go?

That's probably the closest anyone's ever gotten to a first round receiver's correct spot in the 5 drafts I've been involved with...

I kind of like the pick myself and wouldn't have been surprised if he went before the first QB.

I don't think it's a bad pick at all. I wouldn't go so far as to say he's worth more than the first QB, but he'll definitely be a good one.

Shouldn't have been a surprise based on the fact that NOS overpaid to keep their mentor WR in free agency.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think this is a terrible pick. I just think he could've traded down a few spots and gotten the same guy. At the very least he could've gotten one of the two other wideouts who were comparable but held in slightly less regard by the scouts.

Clark maybe went a bit early but you're right, compared to other drafts when we've had far more modestly talented wideouts going in the top 15 this isn't a huge stretch. Not a bad pick at all.

Why is it that every draft I have multiple high picks the talent pool kind of stinks?

Sometimes I think this game hates me... :)

Yeah, that took me by surprise too. This seems like one of the deepest top-ends of the pool we've ever had. Even late 1st round picks should turn out to be really good players.

Of course, this is the one year that I trade myself out of the 1st round...

I hope the draft class is this [i593e29c]bad[/i593e29c] every year!

Hey guys.. been staying up trying to wait for my other potential trade partner to see if he can beat the other offer I have, but i get up in 5 hours so I REALLY need to get some sleep. So, I should hopefully have word when I wake up and be able to send the pick to the right person. I've asked both of them to load up their player in the tool incase I transfer the pick to them.

Unfortunately I think that talent pool dries up at around 1.23

Compared to a lot of the draft pools I get in the single-player, yeah.

It's not uncommon for me to have 5-6 players with potentials in the 90s when I play offline.

Then again, I'm up to about 2050 so maybe steroids are legal. :)

I've traded the pick to Tulsa, but I'm not sure why it didn't trigger his tool automatically? He has it turned on with 1 player in there. Taco, can you force it? I know what player if he wnats if you can't pull it from the tool.
