Taco, has the rest of my list, so I will not hold up the draft.
The first bust/pick of the 2011 CFL Draft:

Santa Cruz Privateers select:

Robbie Schultz WR from Louisiana Tech

Let the laughter begin, and see you guys when I return on the 23rd.

Why should we laugh? Schultz is arguably the best player in the draft, clearly a stud and is even worth more in our WR starved league.

I would have picked him at #2 in a heartbeat if he 'd stil been here.

Speaking of #2, that pick will not be made right away guys.

Are you trading it for 1.4 and a 2nd rounder?

Actually, the offer is for 1.04 [be28bf6a][ie28bf6a]and[/ie28bf6a][/be28bf6a] a 2028 3rd rounder, but I'm still thinking about it... :P

1.02: the next pick in the 2011 draft could be yours!
To be honest, right now, I'm leaning towards keeping the pick, but I'll give it 24 hours to see if anybody blows me off my feet with an offer I can't refuse.

([i3d6db39]note[/i3d6db39]: I hope the delay is acceptable to all, as the draft hasn't really started yet. If people feel it's too long, I'm prepared to move quicker.)

Trying some reverse psychology on me?

After much debating, and even thoug it pains me to pass up on such a monster tackle that Dexter is, with 1.02, the Vampires select WR Charles Richmond out of USC.

Richmond will be the first true star wide receiver on a roster famous for its receiving 'corpse'.
He is a combine workout warrior (fastest man in the draft, smartest and strongest WR, 3rd most agile WR).

Charles will be a 1st year starter and an instant upgrade to our offense. Hopefully the weapon Titone was waiting for...

I can't believe the best player in the draft is still there. What's worse is he is going to Shreveport. Should make for some interesting battles between Houston & Dexter twice a year. That is if RH is going to move him over to the right side!

You're very perceptive, but to be honest, I really didn't care who you picked. If you picked Cooley, I would have gotten Richardson at #3. In fact, that's what I was counting on happening.

However, when I made the trade to get to #3, I knew that there was an outside chance that the best player in the draft would be available at #3. Both Santa Cruz and Detroit had stud tackles already and both needed WR's.

Since I already have a Tackle mentor on my team, Big Dexter (as opposed to Little Dexter Bleeck) will be a welcome addition to the Pride.

You obviously realized that Richardson would not be there if you traded down to 6 or lower (Since I wasn't going to trade and Albany already has said that they were looking to reduce cap costs). So, kudos to you for making a ballsy call and taking the WR at #2. He looks like a stud. Good luck with him.

Now as I said before:

Come to Papa, Big Dexter!

PS: Shooter, are you nuts? I'm not moving him to RT just because of 2 games against Santa Antonia. That's not to say that he won't play RT in those games against Santa Antonia, though.
;)

With the third pick in the 2011 draft, Shreveport selects [b6a30141]LT Big Dexter Cooley[/b6a30141] from Northwestern!

Time to start looking for fast, scrambling quarterbacks.... there's got to be a Matt Jones or Randle El in there, if not a Boldin... (Though I have yet to make that conversion work in FOF like it does in the NFL...)

The 4th and 5th pick are both in talks right now. Unforntunately, I will be out of town nearly all of Thursday to sign my teaching contract and apartment lease, get fingerprinted for background search, urine and semen sample, get baptised, the standard Mississippi teaching check. Mississippi's public school motto, "Making Arkansas look gooder since 1965."

I should be back late Thursday, and will be up and on early Thursday to try to iron some of this out. I needed to see if a guy signs a contract extension anyway.

Exactly.

And you of all people should know how much I love Browning! :D

The pick has been made in the utility. It was a tough decision with some of those receivers out there, but we needed to solidify the interior D-Line and Toby O'Donnell was just the guy to do that!

Excellent choice...didn't think you could refuse a receiver.

With the exception of my first ever pick, I think I've pretty much taken the best player available that I see on the board, even if it is not a need position. This year, that player filled a big need, which is why I had to move up to get him.

sort of. I traded up because my early picks always suck.

See: Lester Allen and Devin Shapiro. Everett Schwartz might join that list too, the jury is still out.

So what are you waiting for now? A trade back down?
