[quoteda680f6="timmynausea"]I decided to gamble on Bucky Ferraro, the low-rated QB with the insane combine numbers. I figure most people were planning on taking a shot on him later on in the draft, but I'm a sucker for great combine performances.[/quoteda680f6]

What do you guys go to the Dave Wannestadt school of football scouting?

Scout: "He's a hell of an athlete, but can't play a lick of football!"
Dave: "Let's pick him anyways. We can TEACH him to be a good football player. Athleticism is innate and can't be taught."

He wouldn't have lasted that long. I would've taken him at 4.20.

But I agree with SkyDog. You're a jerk, timmy! :D

[quoteaad1fae="Joe"]BTW, I noticed that Huntington Beach selected a WR after I picked Aviles at 2.15. I can only hope that I took the guy they really wanted.[/quoteaad1fae]I missed this the other day. I did have Aviles on my list. I don't remember which one I had higher, though.

Now that the draft is over, and while things are still fresh in our collective mind, any ideas for improvements?

My suggestion would be to lower the first rounds window from 8 hours to 6 (or even possibly 4).
Reasoning behind that is that most picks are usually done fairly quickly in that time window. Basically, most people pick either early or not at all. The picks that held us up early on were ones that were missed altogether. By reducing the window from 8 to 6, we'll be reducing the time we have to wait for the countdown to end.

Any thoughts or other suggestions?

I don't like a four or even six-hour first round window. The immediate thought that comes to mind is sleep time. I don't want to be autopicked ever, but I also am not interested in going to bed at 11:00, my pick coming up at midnight, and then having to get up by 4:00am to make a pick. There's also the "work factor" in the first round. Eight hours allows someone to run home at lunch to make a pick if necessary, but if it is only four and the pick comes up at 1:00pm, you're screwed.

I'm pretty sure our clock stops during the night.

Although it hit some snags, I think that the draft went pretty good. After all, we did complete on time according to schedule. I don't like the idea of reducing time in the first round because that's when most of the trades are made. People need time to pull off the big ones.

I like it how it is.

Agreed. It's always frustrating early on, but we ultimately get it done in time to keep up with the schedule.

It was like shopping with a bunch of chicks.

But that's just me. If y'all dug it, all good. Let's play some ball.
