Hey guys,

I've been thinking this over for awhile now, and it's time for me to step down as commissioner of the CFL. I have enjoyed it a lot, and I want to say thank you to all of our loyal owners here that make this one of the best FOF leagues ever!

Over time the commissioner duties have become a drain on me, and recently I haven't been able to do much with the league besides running the sims. I'd like to get back to doing other things with my time (articles, the website, etc.) and hand off the sim and administrative duties to someone else.

I think the league will really benefit from this transition. There have been some great ideas posted here recently, but I haven't been able to do anything with them. I believe that a new commissioner will be able to act on them and make this great league even better. Meanwhile, I can support the league with new website features and leading the Durham Bulldogs to their 1st CFL championship!

For now I will continue to be commissioner until the transition occurs, hopefully within the next month.

So...are there any volunteers and/or nominations to become the new CFL commissioner? According to our constitution:

[quote4b4b440]The CFL is governed by a Committee of the Whole consisting of all team owners. The Committee of the Whole designates a Commissioner by majority vote. The Commissioner serves until he or she resigns or is removed from office by majority vote.[/quote4b4b440]

Thanks for understanding, guys, and please let me know how we can make this transition as smooth as possible for everyone involved.

Hate to see this happen, but glad we are not losing you as an owner. Life happens, and I certainly understand that.

I nominate the rejection of Taco's resignation. Who's with me?!

j/k

I am actually at a loss for words. I've only known one Commissioner as a CFL GM and it is a sad day for me. But that aside, I always wondered how you could do such a great job for such a long time. You deserve a break after the tour of duty you have served. Thanks for all of your hard work and dedication to the CFL. I'm now excited and looking forward to those traits being applied in the extra curriculars you mentioned, well except for the championship part.

Personally, I would need to know who is willing to make this type of commitment before nominating someone but I think it would be insulting to not mention that TLK would be an easy pick for me based on his past fill-in performances. But this is not something I want to thrust on someone...

I think those interested in filling this role should throw their hat in the ring so we know who would be willing to be nominated.

That being said and me being me, I will nominate TLK and put him on the spot.

For once, I agree with the entirety of a TT post.

It is hard to imagine the CFL without you as commisioner, Taco, but after so many years (actual calendar years, not make-believe seasons, mind you) it is understandable that you'd want a break. And for what it's worth I'd say you've well more than earned that break. Many thanks for your years of outstanding work leading this league!

As TT said, TLK would seem to be a natural candidate if he's willing to serve. But I wouldn't blame him at all if he declined - it is a lot of work being commish, and we probably haven't appreciated enough just how seamless Taco has made the commish job appear.

Sorry to see you stepping down Taco, you really are a great commish. So long as TT isn't the new commish, I'm fine with whomever. TT would make us all go back to 2k4.

Thanks for all you've done, Taco. Like others have said, you've certainly earned the break.

Taco,

You've been a great commissioner and we all certainly appreciate all that you've done for us!

It's a sad day for the CFL. I'm just glad you're still going to be in the league!

By the way, I completely understand real life getting in the way.

You of all people should feel entitled to a break from commish duties. Thanks for all the work you've done through the years.

Thanks for all the work you've put in. I've run the league for a few months, here and there- and I know how draining it can be at times. You definitely deserve the break.

But I am glad to know you'll be sticking around to run your team....wouldn't be Durham without you.

This sums up my thoughts pretty well.

You made the CFL what it is today, many thanks.

Whoever comes after will have some pretty big shoes to fill...

Taco-

Thanks for everything that you do for the league. I'd much rather see you step down than lose you from the league. As everybody else has said before me: You've done a hell of a job! I, too, look forward to your other ventures within the league.

Thanks for the kind words, guys! I am definitely not going anywhere - I actually expect to be more active as an owner once someone else takes over the commissioner role. Long live the CFL!

Taco,

Thank you for all of the time and hardwork you've put into the league. You certainly have earned the right to pass the reigns on.

I think you know that I've come very close to leaving the league multiple times but my loyalty to you as such a great commish has kept me around (fwiw, I've been pretty happy with the league for a bit and I'm not considering leaving any time soon).

On the positive side it will be fun to hopefully spend more time getting our rivalry re-ignited ;).
