The Shreveport Pride today announced a number of transactions that occurred within the club.

[ba52d5d3]The Big News:[/ba52d5d3] Pride fans will be happy to hear that for the second consecutive season, the Pride traded up in the draft. This time they nabbed the number 1 overall pick. Going to Seattle are the Pride's #11 overall pick and up and coming MLB Richard Suazo. The Pride has announced that they are currently in negotiations with the player who would be their pick at #1: Jerald Barber - DT from Michigan.

The Pride's front office said this of the trade: "We had approached the former owner of the Thunderbirds to try to make a deal to move up, however, nobody returned our calls. When Aylmar moved into the 'Birds front office we gave him a call and worked out a deal that would help him reduce some of his salary cap figures."

[ba52d5d3]Other Moves:[/ba52d5d3] In light of the pending deal with Seattle, the Pride released DT Mercury Delaune. In addition, they have resigned TE Vito Pulley to a 1 year extension and Dime Back Sean Page to a three year extension.

[ba52d5d3]Off the Bubble: [/ba52d5d3]With the trade of Richard Suazo to Seattle, LB Andrew Robey will retain his Willie Backer position, that the new coaching staff was threatening to move Suazo into. In training camp, Robey will have to only fend off second year pass rush specialist Rondell Talley, unless other moves are made in the draft.

[ba52d5d3]Don't Let the Door Hit Ya . . .[/ba52d5d3] WR Quintin Garth reached a deal with the Durham Bulldogs.
