SEATTLE - Rumors swirling around the Thunderbirds team complex the last few days are starting to mesh into a low hum that [player]Charles Dever[/player] might be on the trade block. The team adamantly denies these rumors, releasing a statement this morning that Dever always has and always will be a valuable part of the organization and there are no plans for changes to the All-Pro quarterback's status. The rumors began when [player]Chad Lauher[/player] remarked to a reporter that he had been spending a ton of time this off-season working out with [player]Hunter Walker[/player]. The Thunderbirds leading receiver and backup quarterback seem to be developing a bond and Lauher, according to an anonymous source, is starting to openly campaign for Walker to be anointed the starter. When this reporter tried to reach Dever for comment, we were told that he is taking some time to be with his family this month and will not be available for comment until he returns for OTA practices after the completion of the CFL draft. Dever has been strangely silent the last couple of months, ever since announcing that he would certainly return for his sixteenth season. The question is, when he returns, whose colors will he be wearing? The bet here is that Walker will come in with the inside track to take Dever's job. How can you bench the reigning offensive MVP? The rumors continue. "The old man's got to go...." |
