A press conference was held today to announce the new ownership of the Anchorage Snow Leopards...and the first thing the new owner did was announce that they were no longer the Snow Leopards.
New owner Shawn Pearce presented the public with both the new logo and new helmet design for Anchorage's only professional sports team, along with a new name...the Anchorage Unknown.
"Since the days of the native Inuit tribes, there has always been a healthy fear of the unknown in the Alaskan wilderness." Pearce said in a press conference today. "Starting today, and over time, the CFL will feel similar emotions as they, too, turn to face the Unknown."
The press conference was brief as Pearce had a long day ahead renegotiating contracts and trying to stretch some free agency room to try to build the team back up to snuff...starting with the securing of a quarterback to lead the team.
"Nothing we can't handle." Pearce said. "We'll be ready to face the sesaon and whatever challenges they hold. It's a new day for Alaskan pro sports."
