The new ownership in Boston wants to leave their past behind by featuring the city's past as their new mascot. The teams mascot will now be the Massacre. When asked about why he would change the name of the team the new owner Willy D responded, "We were looking for a new direction for this team. We felt a name change was a symbolic way of starting that process. We also wanted something that the people of Boston could get behind and support. We felt an historic event such as the Boston Massacre was a great way to show of the city's heritage and it's contribution to the American Revolution." With the majority of the team returning for the 2019 season we will have to wait and see if a fresh coat of paint will turn these abysmal Devils into a ragging Massacre. |
