Thanks, Smitty. It will be interesting with four 1st rounders. Good luck with your players!

I seriously thought at a few points that this deal was dead.

Forgot to say: Atlantic City agrees.

thenewchuckd... looks like your way is working better, because you are taking all the 1st round picks of people that are interested in trading them. I have at least 5 players who are better than players you are getting 1st rounders for, so I have to believe I'm either going to do better or the people willing to trade picks in this league have given them all to you.

What's scary is what he might have if he let his deals cook a little longer. Between going to bed last night and getting a chance to login at work this morning (less than 7 hours) I missed my window of opportunity on a trade.

thenewchuckd better slow down a little or the draft speed will make his head explode.

Hey - we had some talks on this one. You didn't have a first rounder so this was the better deal for me.

Maybe I could have done better on the first few deals I made but I don't think anyone can say these last two deals were unfair.

Also, I still have a lot of work to do before the draft. I couldn't wait around to see if more bidders came along.

PS If I have all the 1st round picks I promise that the draft will go really fast. ;-)

Oh, I was simply referring to the small windows in which you are operating and the limitations you are placing on your own returns. I think time is your friend when you are offering the quality and quantity of the players you are offering. Especially considering FA hasn't started yet nor have we seen the draft class. I didn't mean to imply anything as far as fairness of any specific deal, just the fact that time may have made your returns even more prolific.

We have quite a few timezones represented in the league and it can take some time for response to filter in. For example, I sent you a PM at 10:44 PM CST and all your replies hit before I logged in at 8:00 AM CST the next day including the one that assumed I didn't have the ability to counter. A properly motivated owner can generate resources fairly easily given the time to do so. I'm just offering advice on how to maximize your return on trades by allowing time for your deals to cook. You can also check the Outbox/Sentbox to confirm whether someone even read your message or not. A little more time can make a fair deal one that is lopsided in your favor.

Then again, I may not know anything about making trades, so take it for what it's worth.

Even if you have over half the first round selections, I'm still willing to bet your head will explode when you experience the speed of the CFL draft. ;)

I see what you're saying but fair value is fair value. There is no sense waiting for something that maybe could happen. Yes, maybe someone would change their mind upon seeing the draft class or FA board. It could go the other way, too, though. Someone could meet their needs in FA and no longer see the need to trade. Or the draft class may look impressive and people will want to keep their picks.

Also, I'm not looking to hammer anyone in a deal. It doesn't help to build relationships in the future for trading. If it is a fair deal, I'm making it.

Someone said in another thread that he would have offered more if I waited. I can tell you that I will be extremely careful if I ever deal with that person again and would negotiate him to the ground.

Specifically back to our case. At no time did you say that you would wheel and deal to get me a 1st rounder. I even sent you his (almost) final offer. You replied to it and said "if that deal falls through, come back to me". So you can't say that I didn't give you a chance.

Anyhow, this is getting old. Hopefully I just get the reputation of being easy to deal with and therefore I'll always have lots of trading partners. ;-)
