The San Antonio Stingers have been building momemtum the past few seasons with a major effort from GM Shooter. While it looked like the Stingers were on track to take the driver's seat the last season or two, Raven Hawk and his Pride emerged convincingly to stake their claim on the Deep South. Shooter needed this draft to remain competitive and make sure the Pride's bite doesn't match their growl.

CB - Billy Joe Talley
South Carolina
5'11" 191

Talley is arguably the 2nd best CB in the 2020 draft behind stud Byron Clemons. Billy Joe has the run defense and man-to-man skills required to be left alone on the island at the pro level. His knock is merely that he suffers in zone schemes which may just be a result of comparing it to his man and bump abilities. B.J. has the endurance to last against most CFL WR's all day long and have enough left in the tank to contribute on special teams. Talley is the center piece of San Antonio's 2020 draft.

DE - Desmond Hetherington
Boston University
6'3" 267

Shooter moved up to snag Hetherington late in the 2nd. There was something San antonio liked about this strong mule out of Boston U, who can stop the run and bull rush the strongest of the offensive linemen. Hetherington also has a good football mind and won't have trouble adjusting to the pro game. Definitely better talent than would have been found in the 3rd and 4th rounds.

WR - Brett Riley
Purdue
5'11" 197

The Big 10 doesn't produce a ton of talent at the WR position on a regular basis and this year is no different. However, when a WR does get involved the Big 10 style defenses hit them hard. Riley benefitted from the conference by developing soft and secure hands. If he gets his paws on it, it's caught and he's not letting go. Riley doesn't have tremendous size or speed but he has hands, courage, and the ability to adjust to the ball - all a product of Big 10 football. We didn't like a lot of the talent in the WR ranks this year and we'll reserve judgement on Riley for now.

RG - Rufus Lynch
Duke
6'2" 298

Lynch is a well-rounded offensive line prospect out of Duke. He won't be a star in the league but you won't hear is name called much while dissecting game film either.

FB - Glen President
Kansas
5'11" 234

Hail to the chief! President was a solid value pick in the 6th round for San Antonio. President could easily have gone in the 5th, with his prototypical FB build, his blocking ability in all aspects of the game, his 3rd down running ability, and his hands out of the backfield. All this could lead to matchup issues for opposing defenses. Most importantly, President has a head for the game and his blitz pickup skills will get him time early in his career. Combine that with his passion for special teams and he is guaranteed a spot on San Antonio's 53-man roster.

RDT - Luther Benson
California
6'3" 313

[img97616f8]http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/0cu ... B/340x.jpg[/img97616f8]

Where's the beef? Probably in Luther's pocket. This big boned behemoth anchored a California front seven that defended the run like no other in the conference. They may have been shredded through the air but no one ran down Luther's street. Luther is fairly one-dimensional and that reputation was not altered when he opted out of the combine. Everyone knows Luther brings a stout run defense and a strong pass rush but they don't know he can diagnose plays at the next level. If Luther can handle the transition, the Stingers got another value in the 6th round.
