With the first mini camp in the books, here's a look at the players Fargo took in the draft:

[listd99a637][*d99a637][bd99a637]1.12 - DE Quinn Elway, Central Florida[/bd99a637]
Elway was brought in to be a pass rusher, and he's played the part so far. Only average speed for the position, he ran a 4.8 40 at the combine, but he makes up for it with his strength, and he's displayed it so far. One play that had the coaches talking was when he managed to bullrush tackle [bd99a637]Joel Cheeks[/bd99a637] in drills, knocking the 330 pound tackle backwards.

[*d99a637][bd99a637]2.12 - RB Sedrick Prior, Oregon State[/bd99a637]
Prior has spent some time working with his former Oregon State teammates, runningbacks [bd99a637]Thurman Barlow[/bd99a637] and [bd99a637]Adam Mendez[/bd99a637], but most his time has been spent working route running and screen passes with offensive coordinator [bd99a637]Heath McDaniel[/bd99a637]. McDaniel has spend some extra time working with him as he still looks to contribute as a third down back this year.

[*d99a637][bd99a637]3.10 - QB Walter Mattes, Louisiana - Monroe[/bd99a637]
Mattes has shown some flashes of the potential that lead the Boxcars to drafting him, but he's still a long ways off. He was intercepted several times by [bd99a637]George Gregory[/bd99a637], and drew critcism from coaches for leaving a reciever vulnerable to a big hit when he floated a pass to [bd99a637]Jerald O'Neill[/bd99a637]. He's still quite a ways off and the plan is to bring him along slowly.

[*d99a637][bd99a637]3.12 - FB Brett Offutt, Oregon[/bd99a637]
Offutt got himself in [bd99a637]Korey Tyworth's[/bd99a637] doghouse early by showing up above his already massive playing weight of 275. He missed several days of practice before getting in shape, and the coaches feel like he's behind on his blocking. If he doesn't improve enough, his value as a short yardage back may not be enough to keep him active for game.

[*d99a637][bd99a637]4.12 - S Rex Murch, Illinois State[/bd99a637]
Murch has impressed coaches with his football knowledge and ability to break down opposing offense, which makes him the favorite to beat out [bd99a637]Ricky Cerda[/bd99a637] for the final safety spot on the team. Cerda is a better run defender than, but Murch is the better athlete and a better fit for backup safety in the Boxcars defensive schemes.

[*d99a637][bd99a637]5.12 - CB Grant Adams, Michigan[/bd99a637]
Adams has been one of the most impressive defensive backs physically, but he's still behind on using his 4.45 speed into making plays. He's currently at the bottom the depth chart at corner, but look for him to compete with third year man [bd99a637]Clarence Mundt[/bd99a637] for the final active spot during the season.

[*d99a637][bd99a637]6.12 - K Leroy Matthews - Tennessee[/bd99a637]
Local boy Leroy Matthews has been nearly automatic from inside 40 yards, but has struggled with longer kicks. Incumbent [bd99a637]Jack Munoz[/bd99a637] has a long of only 45 in his time with Fargo, making Matthews a favorite for the job, though it may come down to a competition in preseason games.

[*d99a637][bd99a637]7.12 - G Jumbo Jim Elliott[/bd99a637]
Elliot fits in with Fargo's offensive line perfectly. The 6'7" 345 pound guard is one of four on the offensive line that tips the scales at over 335 pounds, on an group where the smallest starter is 301 pounds, and at 289, backup center [bd99a637]Arthur Peck[/bd99a637] is the only under 300. Expected to enter the season as the top backup, Elliot will need to improve his pass blocking if he wasn't to get much playing time.[/listd99a637]

[bd99a637]Team Notes[/bd99a637]
* There's more in a war of words between Fargo's top draft pick [bd99a637]Quinn Elway[/bd99a637] and 2nd year defensive end [bd99a637]Motormouth Vazquez[/bd99a637] of Durham. Elway has guarenteed that he would finish the season with more sacks than Motormouth, to which Vazquez responded by accusing Elway of copying him and promising to break [bd99a637]Seth Keller's[/bd99a637] single season sack record of 17.5. Upon hearing this Elway said, "There's no way Motormouth will be able to catch me. But just to make sure, I think I'll start wearing one of Dwayne's jerseys around. If he thinks I'm a QB ain't no way he's even gonna get close to me. And hell, I think I'll even stop the run while I'm at it. Then there's no way he can say I'm copying him."
