Vegas owner and GM TurfToe avoided publicity this off-season by closing his doors to the usually public war room marketing extravaganza. Instead, there was a brief press conference after the final day of the draft to share some thoughts on the 2024 Vegas draft...

We're not going to get fancy with the hot college bodies with barely tolerable faces...you'll have to visit Arizona for the ugly tree survivors. We're confident that our roster will stand the tests of the 17 week schedule in 2024. We've positioned ourselves to be at the bleeding edge of the salary cap to provide the best product we can for the Vegas faithful. Our goal in 2024 was to find depth and upgrades for role players where possible. I feel that our window is 2024 and 2025 and we will do whatever it takes to win the Ring of Fire and make a run at the title in the next two years. Here's how we plan to shore up our solid roster.

[uaae6afc][baae6afc]4.19[/baae6afc][/uaae6afc]
DT Jerry Mesler
Clemson
6'3" 306 lbs.

Mesler was a last minute pick we decided on as the 4.19 came up. We had a plethora of OL talent staring us in the face but there were a few game tapes our defensive line coach kept going back to...Mesler is athletic - quick, fast, a playmaker. He led the nation in defensive touchdowns with two of them on interception returns. His ability to produce as a 3-down or specialty tackle will work itself out behind Alkateeb and Kellett so there's no hurry on this guy. We;ll be talking about this kid in a few years for sure.

OLB Cornelius Ingram
Auburn
6'6" 258 lbs.

I must admit I have an addiction for athletic freaks and psychotic LB's. Ingram is a six-and-a-half foot freak. His motor never quits. I'm putting a lot on my linebacker coaches but my scout tells me everyone missed on this kid and is very underrated by the league's talent experts. My limited LB knowledge tells me he struggles with the run and doesn't apply much pressure in the form of a pass rush but can cover just about anyone in a pattern. This could be the pick that gets Sean Hudson fired but I'm willing to bet his job on it.

[uaae6afc][baae6afc]7.10[/uaae6afc][/baae6afc]
WR Lance Lemke
Arkansas
6'0" 198 lbs.

Since Hudson's job is officially on the line and I asked him to find me a difference maker like he did with undrafted FA Hugh Allen a few years ago, he went with another guy that made a big splash during his visit before the draft. I've seen what this kid can do in game film and in workouts but this is the CFL and I'm dying to see what he can do against the best in the world. Lance has got the hands and adjustments of an all-leaguer but it's the rest of the receiver skills that can turn those qualities into results. This kid is another one to watch.

[uaae6afc][baae6afc]7.29[/uaae6afc][/baae6afc]
RB Tito Seaman
Iowa
5'10" 219 lbs.

Tito was a guy we didn't have any interest in going into the draft with Hutchins recovering from his foot injury and old man Vandersommen still teaching the young guys how it's done. Shapiro was handling return duties just fine so there just wasn't a need. When we saw Seaman sitting there like a pile of mangoo, we had to take a flier on him to push our RB corps at the least and make the team as a 3rd RB and a returner at most. Given a good camp, he could supplant someone as the #2 on the Rounders.
