Post subject:  Talon Report: Poisti

To start off the position battles group lets look at the WR's.

Starting SE is Charles Lindberg, starting FL however is up in the air. The players: last year's leading reciever for the Talons, [b0ceb4ad] James Hoch [/b0ceb4ad]. Next up is last year's first round pick, [b0ceb4ad] Daniel Campbell [/b0ceb4ad]. Finally we have [b0ceb4ad] Michael Freeny [/b0ceb4ad]. Freeny is thought to be the most talented of the bunch, but Hoch is a big reciver who has been with the team for 2 seasons, and is the all time leading reciever with 1,450 yards. Daniel Campbell is the odd-ball, the coaching staff would love to get him on the field as much as possible, especially if rookie QB Donnie Lowe is playing, but the team is also looking to win now and might use Campbell as the # 3 reciever. Campbell started 7 games as a rookie. If the season started today Hoch would be the starter, but anything can change in 3 weeks.

Starting NT- With the Talons switching to the 3-4 defense, they now have 2 talented DTs competing for 1 spot. Right now last year's 2nd round pick [b0ceb4ad] Vince George [/b0ceb4ad] has a slight edge right now, he is a big strong DT who is very good at stopping the run. [b0ceb4ad]Tobias Bernstien [/b0ceb4ad]had 5 sacks last season, and led all lineman in tackles, however Vince George had a great in training camp and preseason so far. This is a battle that could still be going on during the season.

LCB- [b0ceb4ad] Graig Beaton [/b0ceb4ad] vs. [b0ceb4ad] Pete Henderson [/b0ceb4ad]. Henderson is has had an injury plauged career, missing 9 games in the past 2 seasons. Henderson is more developed, but Beaton shows great potential. With the addition of Jankowski only one of the two can start, the other will be moved to the nickle slot, and last year's 2nd round pick, [b0ceb4ad] Otis Ames [/b0ceb4ad] will be the dime back. This is another position battle that could last into the season.

And now what we have all been waiting for.....

QB-
In the offseason former starter, [b0ceb4ad] Corey Durant [/b0ceb4ad] was traded to Anrchorage. The team signed [b0ceb4ad] Sonny Jarvis [/b0ceb4ad] from Charleston, the coaches really loved his experience and leadership. Jarvis is an 18 year vet. who won a super bowl ring last season with Charleston, coaches are hoping he can bring a winning attitude into the locker room. As for his skills, he is well over the hill, but can still be a consistant QB and hand the ball off to the work horse, [b0ceb4ad] Butch Fulton [/b0ceb4ad]. With the 5th pick in the draft this past season the Tulsa Talon's selected QB [b0ceb4ad] Donnie Lowe [/b0ceb4ad]- Lowe is said to be the most NFL ready passer out of this draft. He has looked great in preseason so far, and with Tulsa's running game and recievers Lowe could come in and start right away with little pressure on him. With 3 games to go it is a toss up, but no matter what Lowe will see some playing time this year. More to come on the QB battle in Tulsa....
