With 2 games completed in the preseason, the position battles between the Punters and Kickers are heating up.
[be57db80]Punters[/be57db80]:
Veteran [be57db80]Schrimsher[/be57db80] has the advantage, punting 9 times for 395 yards (43.8 avg), with a long of 52 yards and 3 punts within the 20 (1/3 rate).
Rookie [be57db80]Grabovez[/be57db80] has been good, but can't match the veteran's numbers. He's punted 10 times for 363 yards (36.3 avg), with a long of 46 yards and also 3 punts within the 20 (3/10 rate).
[be57db80]Kickers[/be57db80]:
The kicking of Field Goals has been appalling, with the unit going 0/3 in the preseason so far. Will the first kicker to score a field goal get the job? Possibly.
Veteran [be57db80]Lynch[/be57db80] missed his one FG attempt from 36 yards, and is 2/2 on extra points. He's been massive in kickoffs, though, booting 3 for touchbacks (79 yards twice, and 75 yards), and once for 61 yards.
Rookie [be57db80]Hoke[/be57db80] missed both of his FG attempts from 46 yards, and is also 2/2 on extra points. His one kickoff went for 58 yards and he's 1/3 on onside kicks.
Right now it looks like the veterans are holding onto their jobs, especially [be57db80]Lynch[/be57db80], but there are two more games to go. Stay tuned!
