Congrats on the impending new baby! My kids are 3.5 years apart (8 and 4.5, currently), so I hear you. Once life settles down (which, hopefully, will be before your kids graduate from high school) please give some thought to coming back. We'd all love to have some GI back in the CFL!
The question you've asked about FOF is of the million dollar variety, and Jim has been (typically) tight-lipped about his plans. The fact that he hasn't publicly stated that he has abandoned FOF gives me some hope, as I believe he'd have the decency to tell all of us waiting for a new version to direct our emotional energies elsewhere. And I can understand his reticence to release a new version in the last 12 months, given the uncertain labor situation (and the consequences that uncertainty might pose for his game design).
That being said, I'll have some lingering doubt until he formally announces a new version. I try to stay hopeful, though.
