Game Report: Las Vegas 23, Atlantic City 3
Exhibition Week 2
PLAYER OF THE GAME
CB Dennis Porter
For the second straight week, Porter gets the award with an interception, 3 tackles and 1 pass defensed. However, this was not a good game for ACI so there wasn’t much to choose from.
MISSING IN ACTION
Pass Rush
ACI spent quite a bit of money in the offseason to rework the defensive line. In return for that investment, the team would like a few more sacks. This week, they had none. If this continues, they may need to dial up the pressure with more blitzes.
TURNING POINT
Any chance of a comeback (and yes, that was a very small chance) was ended when ACI was called for holding in their own end zone late in the 3rd quarter. The safety pushed the score to 16-3 Las Vegas.
If YOU MISSED IT
• A poor performance for ACI got worse when SS Derek Ross suffered a torn ACL with 3:11 left in the 3rd quarter. Ross had developed into a 53/53 safety but is now done for the year. This is a huge hit to the defense.
• OLB Edwin Stoner made his much anticipated debut and had a solid yet unspectacular game. He finished with 5 tackles and a fumble recovery.
• The punter competition took a strange twist as Larry Keith was a late scratch due to unknown reasons. Howard Doyle stepped in and had an average day on 9 punts. Will Keith put up a fight this week or is he headed to the unemployment line?
BY THE NUMBERS
52 - Passes by ACI QB Tyrone Dillon (which is not what the Phantoms want)
6 - RB Mario Halls ypc
3 - Points scored by ACI in the second straight game
