Game Report: Honolulu 0, Atlantic City 21
Week 2

PLAYER OF THE GAME
CB Nate Marsh

We like to find the unsung hero as our player of the game and Marsh fits that description perfectly. Against Honolulu, Marsh had the following line:

- 1 solo tackle, 3 assists
- 1 interception
- 1 fumble recovery
- 1 kickoff return for 19 yards
- 1 blocked pass

All of this from a 14/23 player who made the roster due to his kickoff return skills only and has been pressed into action on defense because of a lack of cornerbacks.

MISSING IN ACTION
WR Duane Muscarella
Muscarella is the top wide receiver on the roster (and yes that is not a great thing when he is 38/38) but he has yet to do much on offense. This week he had one catch for 4 yards giving him two for the season.

TURNING POINT
ACI locked down the win with two long touchdown drives in the second half. The first drive took 7:53 off the clock in the 3rd quarter as they drove 78 yards in 14 plays. The second drive took only 2:26 and 5 plays as they marched 88 yards for the final touchdown.

If YOU MISSED IT

• ACI has been trying to incorporate their fullbacks into the run game this year and at least this week, it payed off. Mario Genovese had 3 carries for 65 yards, including a 53 yard run.

• If nothing else, QB Tyrone Dillon is consistent. In week 1, he threw for 130 yards. In week 2, it was 131 yards. The difference: 189 rushing yards for ACI in the week 2 win but only 87 yards in a week 1 loss.

• OLB Kurt Watson blocked a punt in the second quarter, which led to the first touchdown for Atlantic City. It is much easier to score when you start on the opponent’s 17 yard line. Another example of how special teams are the most underrated group in football.

• Yet another linebacker went down with an injury. WLB Austin Highlander suffered an abdominal strain and is out 4 weeks. He joins MLB Darnell Lyon (3 weeks) and J.C. Morrison (2 weeks) on the injured list. The selection of Stoner and Koethe in the first two rounds of the draft are looking better and better.

BY THE NUMBERS
0 - Points scored by Honolulu
86 - Rushing yards allowed
1 - Drops by ACI (down from 3 in week 1)

Rookie Watch (new feature)

• SLB Edwin Stoner – 3 tckl (Season – 12 tckl, 1 asst, 1 ps defn, 3 STPly)
Not as active this week as the defensive game plan continues to evolve.

• ILB Zack Koethe – 1 tckl, 1 forced fumble (Season – 4 tckl, 1 asst, 1 ps defn, 1 ff)
Koethe got the first start of his career with Darnell Lyon out with a hyperextended elbow.

• RG Curtis Babinchak – 3 keyBl, 3 BlOpp (Season – 4 keyBl, 5 BlOpp, 1 SkA)
Babinchak was a key part of the improved running game in week 2.

• TE Graham Philip – 2 rec., 11 yards, 1 BlOpp (Season – 3 rec., 16 yards, 2 BlOpp)
Philip looks to have won the starting tight end spot.

• P Howard Doyle – 6 p., 34.7 avg., 34.2 net, 51 lg, 5 In20 (Season – 11 p., 37.4 avg., 32.9 net, 51 lg, 7 In20)
Not a great average but this was due to 5 punts downed inside the 20.
